- It turns out that putting Wings of Fire character names into seven different languages on Google translate and then back into English wasn't the best idea... but it sure had some funny and strange results! From "see you in the morning" to "spokesman of destiny," here are the weirdest translated names of your favorite characters.

I realized I forgot the translations of the SandWing sisters, and these were the results:
Burn's name stayed the same, Blister turned into nearly, and Blaze became Fever.

Luna becoming "month" actually makes sense, as many languages use the same word for "month" and "moon" - even English can interchange them when speaking poetically.

I may have not google translated the prologue and the first two chapters of The Dragonet Prophecy in the past.... Here are some of my favorite quotes from what I like to call Wings of Google The Translated Prophecy:

For luna, I think since luna means moon and the moon does one cycle in a month, that's probably where it came from
For the Luna one and the way you got month it's because in several languages Luna means "moon." and a full moon cycle usually takes around a month. :)

I actually do understand the Luna one being month because lunar means moon and the months go by the moon. The kanji (type of Japanese characters) character for moon and month is actually the same symbol.

Thanks to this, I ended doing a few translations myself, except with my own WoF characters(Because I have quite a few). I started off with a sand/night hybrid called Starburst, and her name turned into Star, how it cut off burst is beyond me. Then I went to her adopted sister Blackmomba, and got Black Bombay somehow. The next few didn't go through any changes, but the next notable one was a rain/ice hybrid called Brisk, and it turned into I live, can't even make this up if I tried. Next was Brisk's friend Arrowglide, and her name turned into Cursor arrow, I am still trying to prosses how that happened. The next one that I did didn't change, but the one after went from Bold to, clearly, so that was something. And the last one that I did didn't change either, so these were my most notable translations, and I hope you liked them.
Okay, I think See You In the Morning was one of the funniest ones!

about the Morrowseer one 'morrow' means the following day/the time following an event or the near future also starflight talked about morrowseers name in book 3 page 121 (novel not graphic novel) while having a conversation with glory because she was asking about deathbringers name after she meets him
volume is the best way to describe clay, that is how google translate got it.

Etimology lesson: the term "month" can trace it's roots to the word moon, sinse it used to mean one lunar cycle. That's also why you sometimes see tribal folk mesuring time in moons from the word "moons."
From this video and my personal experience, I can safely say that Google Translate is sometimes better off used by comedians instead of tourists. From chicken to pigeon and swing to sushi, you cannot have a straight answer (or a straight face) when using Google Translate 🤣🤣🤣

I think one explanation, at least for turtle/tortoise at least, is the existence of one word with multiple meaninga or multiple words with the same/similar meanings
Like how venom and poison are different things, but are referred to with one word in some languages, or if a word has multiple meanings, google might pick one of them at random even if it's different for the inputed word.
What most likely happened with turtle is that one of the languages may not have had different words for turtle and tortoise (they are in the same family - like crocodiles, alligators, caimans and gharials all being crocodilians - only distinguished by being terrestrial or aquatic) and then when it was translated into a language that does have turtle or tortoise as different, google chose to translate it as tortoise and not turtle.
If it bites you and you die, it's venomous.
If you bite it and you die, it's poisonous.

I think that the confusing Luna -> Month was caused by the fact that luna kinda equals moon, which could be brought to moon cycle, which is the same duration as "Month"

As for Luna = month, Luna is based off of the word ‘lunar’ or in other words, Moon. The word month comes from moon, since months are based off of the lunar cycle.

I get why Luna’s name is ‘Month’. Since Luna means ‘Moon’ in some languages. The Chinese calendar counts by moons. Every time it reaches. A full moon is a month. Everybody get it? Correct me if I’m wrong I don’t completely get the Chinese calendar. 😊😊
And the reason Morrowseer’s name is ‘See you in the morning’. Morrow means future or tomorrow. Tomorrow also has the word ‘morrow’ in it. So there are two names explained 😊😊
