- Hello and welcome to Old Ways Gardening and Prepping.🍀 Would like to welcome you each on another gathering adventure for herbal plants. Today we will be trimming back the beautiful white willow limbs off of the boxwoods. There is no need to waste them so let's make a White Willow Bark Tincture.
There are so many beautiful species of willows that grow around the world. Some are medicinal while others are beautiful plants to grow on your property. Here is a listing of a few of many different willows with medicinal
uses. Definitely do your research to find out more information.
White Willow: deep tissue pain/ injury, migraines, headaches and body aches.
Pussy Willow: pms cramping, minor injuries and sprains.
Black Willow: rheumatism, arthritis, gout, inflammatory stages of auto-immune diseases, diarrhoea, dysentery, feverish illnesses, neuralgia and headache.
Weeping Willow: articular bleeding, heartburn, and stomach ailments.
Hope this video encourages you to gather and make your own white willow bark tincture. If you have any questions please feel free to ask them in the comment section below I will answer them as soon as possible. Take care and have a blessed day.
Blessings,
Teresa

Thank you very much Mama owl. I am learning so much from you! I love the way you explain everything! I've got to find me some white willow and Black Willow for my extreme joint pain. I found a very large patch of passion fruit Vines only friend of mine's property how would you recommend transplanting them? I would like to move them to my garden or I could set up a trellis for them to grow on what are your thoughts and recommendation. Thank you sweet lady hope you have a wonderful day
I have successfully moved passion flower a few times. Try to wait later in the year. Closer to fall. Hopefully the ground will be softer to dig. they are deep rooted. Dig as much of a root ball as you can . After you get it dug. Cut off most of the top.Leave 2 or 3 nodes on your dug plant. Made 2 qts of passion flower tincture. From the one in the flower bed.
Good evening Lookout Mountain Ga Rock Hunter and happy that you enjoyed the video. Your welcome and thank you for not minding a longer video due to wanting to make sure to teach enough information in them. Try my best to make each video as if you are being taught in person hands on.
Okay transplanting passionflower is not to hard to do. This is a very good time of year to be doing it. Definitely want to try to get as much of the root system as you can. You want to cut back at least 1/3 to 1/2 of the growing vine off of it. Don't waste the vines you cut off. It is a very important medicinal. It can be dried or made in to a tincture. Video coming out on Thursday about harvesting it. When you get the root ball back home definitely be careful but try to get as many weeds picked out so they don't take over where you will be planting them. They love full sun and a good big trellis to sprawl up on. A good feeding of natural manure and compost will definitely make them grow well. Your welcome and more than happy to help to encourage everyone to grow as many medicinals as possible. Take care and have a blessed day ahead.❤️🍀🦉

Thank you for answering my question UA-cam did not notify me that you had replied to me. Imagine that, going today to dig it up and make tincture out of what is left over I bet they are 100 plants there and I feel that he normally knows thank God he did not know it this year that's how I found it. We'll have most of it in my garden today
Thanks so much! Any advice on filtering?
Today is May 15, 2024 Wednesday.
I have Wild Willow. The bark strips off easily. Is it medicinal?
Do you know if it is equal to White Willow?
I have never whittled. Lol
You should have seen this city gal (69 yrs). HA! I whittled two pieces of wood before i realized I use only the bark!
Anyway, tks for the videos.
I learning!
Hi there, ( and hi to Jana...🐶) so, I looked up "old timer' locking/folding pocket knives, and wow... confusing. ( To me...🙄 ) What size is your blade/ brand/ style? That would be most helpful... thanks. 💕 Great video... just need to find out what Willow is in our 'back 40' . Glad you got yourself a good supply there ( sweat equity volunteering) ~ Got a laugh from your 'acorn hurling' squirrels... 😂Hugs to you
use thyme and citranilla to repell the blood suckers! now i just need to find fresh willow in my area...we don't have many plants around here that everyone else talks about...
Good evening darklordmenet and happy that you enjoyed the video. Oh I wished that would work on these gangster mosquitoes but they laugh at it. Actually there are several native willows that do grow around your area 😉 Just don't use the desert willow it's not a true willow. Take care and have a blessed day ahead.❤️🍀🦉

Can u use vinegar instead of vodka. I'm allergic to vodka
Can I add leaves in with the bark?
Do you know how to use white willow bark powder? How much of the white willow bark powder would one take say for body aches and pain. I'm ordering some white willow bark, but for now I have the powdered bark. Thanks❤😊🙏🙏
Just made my first pussy willow tinture. Thank you for sharing. Hopefully this type of willow is ok to use. Amy suggestions?
Good evening Pamela and happy that you made your first pussy willow tincture. Okay you said hopefully this one will work. That is something that should not be asked after a tincture is already made. Without doing the research you could have wasted the alcohol that you used. Always read the description box below each video there is always more information than in the video. As for any suggestions I can say read the description box. Each willow works a little differently in the body as far as the pussy willow it is really good for pms, cramping and minor injuries. Hope this helps to answer your questions. Take care and have a blessed day ahead. ❤️🍀🦉

What if you don’t know what type of willow you have? Can it still be used?
So dried bark is better for lower percentage vodka?
