Here's my opinion you can't expect that the Braves would willingly want to play the games at a different Stadium. Obviously they want their fans and home-field advantage
If Manfred was an actual competent commissioner, the series would have been played already but nope, let's drag this on because he has no back bone and he's weak.
The Braves were approached by the Mets and MLB about playing Wednesday's game in the afternoon when the weather was normal. Also they were offered to play at a neutral site and turned that down as well as other proposals because they didn't want to lose sellouts but we all know the Braves never sell out. Don't forget that the doubleheader could be meaningless if Arizona is eliminated by Sunday but Rob Manfred said they could still play it for seeding purposes at his discretion. What isn't talked about is whether or not the Royals can even get into Atlanta with this weather.
This is also provided that the damage/flooding in Atlanta isn't such that they can't play this weekend either - or even God Forbid on Monday. They're saying this storm will still be at least a Cat 1 Hurricane when it reaches Atlanta.
The hurricane forecasr was rather imminent therefore they should have played on game on Monday & a double header on Tuesday!!! The way they set it up is the worst case scenario for all parties involved EXCEPT for the 3rd or 4th seeds who will face a team on Tuesday that had a team traveling from ATL & who just played a DOUBLE-HEADER on Monday, the day before NLWC begins :-/// SMH
Dude they would have had to face Sale and Fried and now they don't. You think they beat both Fried and Sale after loosing to Swellenbcah. No way. So now they remain ahead in the standings before palying a brewers team that is already and cant improve their postition. This saved the mets playoff hopes..sorry boss stop winging
@@andrew_aka_andy what s over? The braves still have to beat KC without Sale. I have a feeling it they loose to KC in the first game they will pitch sale in the second. If they use him any time after that they won't be able to use him in the wild card series. The Mets would have easily Iostv the wild card lead. Because of the rainouts they are playing from ahead and by the time the time the doubleheader roles around their spot could be sown up. I think the the most likely team to be out at this point is the d backs
Exactly what I was thinking and that means quite a lot to KC as well. This series should have been shifted already. The way it appears now, looks like double header on Saturday if the series is not moved.
@brianwilkinson356 Hindsight is perfect. After the playoffs finish, you can tell the world you knew all along the "fill in the blank" would win the World Series.
Now the impression that I was led to believe was that the Braves didn't want to reschedule because of their projected attendance. And if that's the case, and Monday cannot happen for whatever reason, I believe the Braves should forfeit those games as they didn't opt for the more definite time slot. As it stands now I think they should regardless, as both teams will likely be sending pitchers on short rest into game 1 of the NLWS.
How is this detrimental to the Mets, fool? The Mets escaped getting swept by the Braves after facing Sale and Fried and leaving Atlanta with the Braves ahead of the Mets. Now on Monday the Mets don't have to see either of them, and will instead see the back end of the Braves' staff.
This is unfair to both teams but moreso the Braves. It totally screws up the way that wanted to stack their pitching staff. Chris Sale could technically miss the first round if the Braves even make the playoffs, or only be available to pitch the 3rd game of the opening round
The Braves would have started Sale and Fried against the mets. now they start ? on monday And have an opener on in game one if they make the WC series.
What about a neutral site? You could have given competitive games to people in a part of the country that don't have them right now. Grow the sport. Atlanta has already milked the trailer parks out of 78 games. There can't be that much more money left there.
We already knew Manfred was weak after he botched the sign stealing scandal in 2017. So this is no surprise that MLB wasn’t proactive in moving up these games.
Braves fan here I needed to find a neutral view on this situation, the scared mets fanbase is blaming it on the braves for not playing a game on Monday and the braves fanbase are blaming it on themselves and the mlb for not stepping up. Everyone is at fault for this situation, the mlb for not doing anything about the situation even though they already knew about the hurricane, and both teams for apparently not doing anything about it. I’ll be unbiased and say the Braves might’ve had something to do with this, but in return, you lose a potential postseason start for sale so i really don’t see why that would’ve happened. This is equally bad for both teams, mets are gonna have to travel a whole lot , the braves’ rotation is all messed up now, and both teams will not get any rest day if they make the wildcard. This situation is horrible.
Not sure if it would have mattered in the case of this hurricane, but the real failure for MLB was allowing rich teams like the Phillies, Yankees, Mets and Braves build new stadiums without roofs. The NL East is always messed up because 4 of the teams play in open air stadiums and see multiple rain-outs each season. (I give the Nationals a break on this as they were a new team building their first stadium, which was a miraculous accomplishment on its own.) Take away all the re-scheduled games for these teams during the course of the season, and they might have a little more flexibility late in the seasons if the games are super important. Each of those teams had decades of experience with rain-outs, but decided to cheap-out when they had a chance to do something about it. Ask any of their season ticket holders how important the "authentic experience" is when they have to sit through a rain delay, or have their game day scotched because the owner was too cheap.
The Nationals weren't a "new" team! They were the Montreal Expos, a team that played IN A DOME! They didn't even build their stadium - the city of Wash., D.C. owns that ballpark. They built it because MLB, who took over the Montreal franchise and owned the Nats their first 2 season in D.C. before selling to Mark Lerner in 2006, wouldn't allow D.C. a third baseball franchise unless the city provided a permanent MLB-level ballpark for the team to play in.
It could be MLB fault but the Mets as often happens, like being in trouble situations. They could win a couple of games vs awful teams such as the As' and know, they could be already in the playoffs. Instead they will be out as the 2022
They got embarrassed in Seattle and lost 2/3 against the As in recent weeks. Also that game against Miami where they lost in late innings if half of those games were won. They would be ahead of the padres.
@@the3onions They have played 36 games since that A's series and they are 25-11 in that span. Padres went 22-14 during their last 36 games. Not to mention the Padres lost 2 of 3 to the Rockies during that same week the Mets played the A's. Two interleague series in mid August has no bearing what so ever on the playoff chase. Yall just pulling games out of a hat at this point. Its quite silly.
I'm wondering why they haven't played this series elsewhere to not have to play a doubleheader on Monday & this seems to benefit the Mets (not a fan of either team).
MLB knows Atlanta gets more attention than the Mets. They also know the drama they've created brings more exposure to the week ahead. And.... they know the Mets are forever known as the organization most likely to implode with the given situation......so putting a few obstacles in their path is ....to them.... acceptable.
They need to hire George Costanza as an assistant to the traveling secretary.
Adds to the drama and the cash flow hello 😂😂
Here's my opinion you can't expect that the Braves would willingly want to play the games at a different Stadium. Obviously they want their fans and home-field advantage
Manfred has made it clear that the owners call the shots and not him.

Except when John Fisher wants to go full stupid mode

How? It's been a monsoon in Atlanta since Tuesday.
Rob Manfred Proved He Is Weak After The Houston Astros Illegally Stole The 2017 World Series.
Thursday game was a make up game for a rainout way back in April. Could have been played on many other occasions prior to now.
Make them play the games in Houston to make up for games the Astros had to play in Tampa and Milwaukee because of hurricanes.
Why would the braves give up their own park
If double-header is played, they have an enormous advantage.
As a met fan, why they want. To give that up
This is also provided that the damage/flooding in Atlanta isn't such that they can't play this weekend either - or even God Forbid on Monday. They're saying this storm will still be at least a Cat 1 Hurricane when it reaches Atlanta.

They could of played a game Wednesday afternoon also. That would have at least prevented a doubleheader on Monday.
I think MLB hates the Mets.
They should have did a double header on Friday or Saturday games of the other series to free up Sunday for a double header
Manfred sucks at everything
Bingo! 😊
This just screwed the Mets playoff hopes. Shame on ManFRAUD

leave it to mafred to leave us with a dumb ass ending to the Mets amazing OMG saga

We need a Roger Goodell commissioner like in the MLB.

add a hurricane postponement to this roller coaster Braves 2024 season
