uconn has had this run because connecticut is basketball country. sure we might not sellout every game but everyone loves them here. we also have no big pro teams so nothing to take away from the huskies attention. also nothing is around campus. just farms. it’s attractive because players are locked in on basketball on campus. our main power is recruiting. hurley and calhoun were, ollie wasn’t and that’s why we fell offa the map. but we back!
It’s also insane they’ve won 3 titles since 2011 with 3 DIFFERENT COACHES!!! That’s what is really insane to think about
Ollie won with calhouns players
Ollie was the recruiter on those players and it's not like there were a bunch of superstars on that team. One marginal NBA guy and that's it, and he won a tournament beating 5 former national coach of the year winners (and Fred Hoiberg). Ollie went to shit after his marriage fell apart, but he absolutely fucking killed it that year.

I am a Uconn fan since like 94. The people who messed this up was the seeders. Uconn started something like 15-0 and beat everyone of those teams by more than ten including Alabama. They were ranked 1 or 2 in the nation and then Big East play started and it took Uconn about 10 games to adjust and then ended with an 11 or 12 game winning streak before losing to the champion of the big east tournament Marquette by 2. No way should they have been a 4 seed. Probably should have been a 2 but that wouldn't have mattered because Uconn was the best team in the NCAA this year. I'm just glad they played like they can.
Since the 1990's, UConns been the most successful college basketball program in the nation. taking into account both the Men's and Women's programs and its not even close
People separate UConn men's success from the women's and this couldn't be further from the truth.
As a UConn fan since 2000 I can honestly say we have our bad seasons but every few years through good coaching and recruiting we make a phenomenal run
Listen broham, I've been a fan since 89 and we didn't start having sub .500 seasons until Ollie was coaching and we went to that stupid conference that almost finished us
Storrs is the basketball capital of the world. It's a special place. You have to experience what it is all about to understand. Outside of Storrs people really don't think much of it....but these guys always get the right players and are in a perfect area geographically. Basketball in high school is big in NY, NJ, that Philadephia area of PA and Mass. You are going to get ballers there. They have them in spades....but Storrs there is nothing to do there but basketball. So, you have the best of both worlds. Your close to home where things are happening and you can focus on your craft in Storrs.

Every single title UCONN has won, they were placed in the West Regional. Also 3 of their 5 championships were won in the state of Texas. Keep UCONN out of the West Region 😂
Actually it's been 4 of the 5. Only the first one was in St Petersburg Florida. The other 4 were: Houston twice, Dallas, and San Antonio lol
It's 5 in 25 years, they are the most dominant program in modern college hoops, great to see them back in the Big East. And congrats to UConn and all of their players and coaches.

They play in the big east conference that is the most competitive conference by far
UConn was never truly a #4 seed. They were only a #4 seed because they went through a stretch in conference play where they were losing a lot of games, so how good they really were got lost in the mix. Their team were built for the tournament. I wasn't surpirsed by them winning because I picked them winning in one of my brackets.
I care. I love college basketball and I'm a diehard UCONN fan. Both men and women.

How does uconn keep doing this is the wrong question really. The right question is how many more could there have been? If Calhoun doesn’t retire under a cloud of NCAA sanctions. If uconn never moved to the AAC (which killed recruiting). If Ollie had the same passion and work ethic Calhoun did. The 2014 win still had Calhoun holdovers on the roster.
The coaching culture at UConn is important. Dan Hurley is a younger coach but he's been getting mentorship from HOF coaches Jim Calhoun and Geno Auriemma since he's been there. Playing in the Big East helps too. Tough conferences are good for prepping for the tournament and Villanova absolutely benefited from that in their last Final Four/Championship runs.
Not to mention his hall of fame dad.
I think if we can have consistency with Hurley as HC, UCONN will be back in the Final Four in way less than 10 years.

UConn basketball has the most loyal fan base in the country - without any pro teams in the state our focus is on Husky domination & excellence!
I became a UConn fan back in 2009, in my 20's. Strangely it was a loss that made me a fan. Syracuse vs UConn in the big East tourney was awesome. Since that game the 2011 title run with Kemba is still my favorite. I've seen them win now 3 titles in my Fandom 😎 on the flip side my childhood team of choice the Cleveland Indians have went to and lost 3 world series, 2 of them in game 7 extra innings heartbreakers😢

its coz of area living ..born in 1955 raised there till 2005 when built own house in hawaii....y area u ask? its smack between boston and new york...no pro teams of own...closes national attention went to Yale football...likes of Calvin Hill..Grants Dad....but middle and north east where storrs is are all lunch pail people fan base..women first broke thru with Lobo in early 90s...men follow 1999...twice both teams won 2004 and 2014....no other college every get both teams in final ANY year....great coaching better support....GO HUSKIES

If you watched that game and thought the BB skills that UConn was performing was boring you aren’t a BB fan… you are anti UConn. As is the entire NCAA! THE ONLY UNIVERSITY WITH 25 NATIONAL SPORTS TITLES THAT NO P5 LEAGUE WANTS BC THEY ARE SO DOMINANT!!! Even in FB nobody wants to play bc it’s a lose lose scenario! If they win ; they were supposed to and if they lose they lost to a team without a league. Even ESPN is anti UConn! 6 New England states and not one Public representative university in the P5… Their bias is showing.
A lot of these kids come from NYC. It's an NYC, chip-on-the-shoulder, Rucker Park attitude. There's always someone better than you so you better outwork them.
Hopefully this will wake up coaches like Cal, Self, etc that they need to have their teams ready to play, kids are kids, yea, you have talent differences(slight), bigger teams(can be negated by good coaches), but in the end you have 18 to 23 year olds that are very good, you throw in a coach that relies on 110% coaching effort, compared coaches that are, maybe, 50% relying on talent, 50% coaching, in Cal's case this year, i don't know if he thought he had a 2012 type team again but he was more like 70 - 30, 30% being the coacing. And many of the blue bloods frankly got outcoached, then you have a UCONN that has great 4 and 5 star players and a good coach, you get what we got, a lopsided champ game and a wide open easy win for UConn

I will say this it’s just like Arkansas football team this past 2022 season to where Arkansas at the beginning of this 2022 football season had a hot start against a couple of games till they got to like Alabama with Bryce Younge who had a concussion but Beated Arkansas by like 60 points in football and then all the sudden Arkansas football ends up winning most of the rest of there football games this past 2022 season the reason why I compared Arkansas football team to UConn basketball sorta
