- You've heard all the watch words. Point to point. Hand wired. PCB. Turret board. Eyelet board. What does all this really mean? Stay tuned. We're gonna lay it all out for ya!
NOTE : I misspoke initially. This is a Magnatone not Maganvox.
Most enjoyable. I needed schematics, etc to work on telephone switching equipment in my early days in telephony as a switching technician. It all applies to amplifiers. A lot of musicians put down PCBs. In the modern real world, that's just about all there is. Satellites, airplanes, nuclear submarines all use them exclusively and successfully. Quality components and quality workmanship are the key to successful and reliable products regardless of how they are made. Not too many soldering irons being used these days. You, however are a very necessary exception. Very well presented. Thank You
Many thanks, sir. I just present my point of view and hopefully it makes sense to others.
@@GranvilleGuitars P.S. I love tube amps. Keep up your great work and teaching others.
I'm new to this stuff, learning all the time. Thanks for sharing your expert knowledge, and explaining the different types of amplifier architecture. Clear and informative..Ed.U.K..😊
Good info, clearly presented. Thanks, Scooter!
Jim Page - Thank you, sir! The Magnatone provided a good base to show the differences.
Love it! electrons don't care... non discriminating electrons... great video
Great great video!!!
I really like your videos with amp guts. Need more behind the panel episodes. Do I sense a PCB designed Granville on the horizon?
steakncheddar - No, I have no interest in that. I can easily make my own turret boards. PCBs not so much.
@@GranvilleGuitars I agree with you. Coming from someone who could go down the path of designing a PCB, I'm building mine using turret construction. I want the component side and solder side of the board to both be easily accessible from the chassis opening. There are a few small other reasons why I prefer turret construction but I digress. At the end of the day if we take a spin on reverb looking at old Marshalls almost all of them will have those ugly blobs of cold solder sitting on the component side of the PCB like you see in this video (they are the most difficult to mod cleanly by far), and that says something negative about PCB construction to me. Take care Scooter!
I think it's hard to beat turret board construction. You have the cleanness of the PCB circuit without any of the repairability issues, and none of the rat's nest of point to point.
Well, turret board and eyelet board are really interchangeable for me.
Where have you been? Haven’t heard from you for a long time.....miss your style
Livin' the dream...
Hope you are doing well Scooter...always looking for your unique video lessons

Thanks. I now have a new found respect for pcb boards.
