  • BC's salmon fishing guides have deep roots in communities up and down the coast. In recent years, these passionate anglers have been assisting in the collection of vital data on chinook salmon populations. This citizen science is critical in order to better our understanding of their migration patterns and run timing.
In this feature we join guide, Jason Assonitis of Bon Chovy Fishing Charters, as he explores his home waters around Sidney, BC. A place where his family has fished for decades.

Sturgeon guides are required to use proper fish handling practices- wet cradles or boxes, when handling/tagging endangered species, why is it that these saltwater guides are exempted by DFO when handling these endangered Chinook stocks?
