Ahh this is a treat and I'm watching this almost teary eyed. My beautiful abuela was a proud Manchega, she passed away recently at 98. Her pisto was always amazing, migas as well absolutely incredible. Sopa de Ajo. Conejo with papas. Aww man. Thankfully I've managed finally to renew my Spanish passport which ran out years ago, spent 18 months trying to get it from the Spanish consulate here in London but I finally done it. Can't wait to go next year to Ciudad Real again. Great times Cheers Stu, take care mate 👍
Mis condolencias. Las abuelas manchegas tienen excelentes cualidades en la cocina, hecha con tiempo, esmero y mucho amor por su familia. Que disfrutes tu estancia en España el próximo año.
Thanks,Stuart. This brings back happy memories of my time in Spain as a young bloke & later quite a bit older. Always enjoyed the food - as you said muy "sabroso".
All looked great Stuart. I too like rabbit. I ate it quite a lot when I lived on Lanzarote. A local canarian restaurant did a special rabbit stew and goat stew once a week. Had to get there early lunchtime otherwise it was no more after hungry locals beat you to it!!
@@user-79uscbijvg The one that served Rabbit was El Tomate in Puerto Calero. Still exists but not been there in 10 years since I lived there so not sure if they still do it! It's not on their regular menu. You needed to ask.
Potage in French is a thick soup. My guess is that potaje is the equivalent in Spanish. You're calling it a stew, looks like a soup to me. This is hair splitting. It looks very nice.
Hi Stu, great munch up. I've eaten in so many fantastic motorway roadside restaurants all over Spain I couldn't say one was the best. They really are fantastic value and some are more than that with great food. Many of them couple as a hotel and well worth considering if you don't want to risk and stress of driving into an urban centre and trying to find accommodation and food. These roadside places offer both and a very easy chill out experience.
I like these type of videos. The food looked absolutely delicious! And I'm glad you've been mixing it up in terms of your "holas". 😄 The energy in this video was also quite higher than usual, really enjoyed that as well!
That all looked good. Couple of months ago, I asked the butcher at my local supermarket if they had any rabbit and they didn't, but he was really excited that I asked for some. Was getting tired of my seafood paella.
Tasty looking dishes from a non-descript restaurant in the middle of nowhere. You should have added the chips to the first dish because it needed a mop up of the delicious looking gravy. Also, these types of dishes need a pitcher of beer.
Wow! what a good'n Stuart. I love these roadside places and they often seem to offer better quality produce than a more expensive restaurant. The food you had looked absolutely delicious. I love pisto manchego and yours looked a really good one. The potaje also looked very tasty. (could a potaje be an aje cooked in a pot?😂) The conejo looked well prepared but I would have prefered the pollo al ajillo. A really hearty serving of good food for an incredible price. I really wish I was healthy enough to return to Spain. Lo echo muchísimo de menos. Can't wait for your next foodie video Stuart. 😀👍
Yes quality food, enough for three people, good value. Here in Santa Cruz de Tenerife conejo a alajillo is very popular dish, I enjoy it but not the head. Stu
Excellent value Stu. Not had rabbit for years, must give it a try. It's not cheap to buy now so that rabbit dish was really good value as you seem to have plenty of it. Thank you for your review.
A 3 course meal in my favourite restaurant in cuenca is 13€ which includes all of the food from the menu you had plus a bottle of wine y pan maybe not the quantities but enough for one person.. So IMO 34€ OTT... Tony cuenca
Amazing value and I'm in Malaga were cheap food is plentiful, I am now in need of a a rabbit dish after seeing that , queso manchego is my absolute favourite thing here but I have some very strange dreams every time I eat it., keep the great content coming
I would love to eat this potaje. The chips look not well fried though and I originate from Belgium, the fried chips land. Probably the wrong potato or oil not correctly heat. Chips are not that easy to get them really right, crisp and soft inside.
That looked fantastic. Is it common to get half servings at cafes or restaurants in Spain? How do you know where & how do you ask for it? I would rather have half serves & taste more plates.
I can't stand pisto... A bit like sick... Potaje is fantastic.. Rabbit is always tender..cuenca is a great place to eat my favourite restaurant is by alcampo supermarket.. El meson.. Tony cuenca
Is it common to ask for half portions? Even if they don't have it listed on the menu? They didn't look half to me anyway, a full portion must be massive :) Looked good.

Condolences. Migas is my favourite food on the Iberian peninsula. Not easy to make well.

My abuela was also Manchega 😢 my condolences. Congratulations on getting your passport renewed!
Your Abuela sounds like she was an amazing light, my condolences.
I enjoy these kinds of places every time I'm in Spain. Will be there next week and stopping by more than a few. Saludos!
Definitely great value for money. When I go to Spain, I'm going to that restaurant. Slow cooked foods are my favorite.
Looks like a meal for two people to share. Looks tasty. Great menu choices.
Hi. Two or 3.
@@spainspeaksYeah, definitely more like 3. 👍
The food looked wonderful.
Those prices 😮 super value!
Thanks,Stuart. This brings back happy memories of my time in Spain as a young bloke & later quite a bit older. Always enjoyed the food - as you said muy "sabroso".
That would easily feed three hungry people. Great value.
Scrumptious meal!!! Everything looks good and traditional... not microwaved!!!
Mmmm pisto and potaje mis favoritos!!!! Ahora tengo hambre!!! 😅😅
Qué buena pinta tiene el.conejo al ajillo!!!! I'M JEALOUS!
Beautiful food and great value for money. Thank you Stu - please keep up the good work!

That pisto was crying out for some nice crusty bread
Potaje = Pottage, archaic term for stew, Stu.
Spanish food is the best.Sin Duda.
All looks delicious I'm going to try and make the pisto and fried eggs husband would love that as a evening meal loved the video thank you Stuart ❤
YUM! all good stuff, Stu. Pisto Manchego with an egg on top is one of my favorites. Love these videos, thank you.
Looks good Stu. Hopefully the family enjoyed the rest of it. 👍
Buen provecho, Stu. Alli me voy enseguida !
All the dishes looked very tasty.
Goodness!! My mouth was watering!! Everything looked delicious!!!
Thank you for sharing. Very good value. As you say enough for two, maybe not three, it looked too good to share with a third person!😂

Tarta de manzana is often covered with crema pastelera con manzanas and then decorated with apple slices
Pottage is a very old English term for thick broths and stews made from any vegetables and bits of meat/fish you can lay your hands on.
I'm sorry but potaje comes from the french term potage.. pot is a latin term and it obviously means pot
@eduprado8155 Yes, but that doesn't stop pottage being the English equivalent.
@@eduprado8155 Sorry, but up to 45% of all English words have of French origin.
@@supalew ok but the fact I wanted to clarify is that the spanish term comes from the french one, not from the english one.
@@eduprado8155 About half of English words come from French words.
Duck eggs and Rabbit , typical English foods going back centuries too .
We visit a restaurant in Callosa del segura called Frasquitin the food is amazing and they do a very good Cocido similar to your Potaje.
Oh dear - You ordered a small bunny - the same day my daughter had to put to sleep her 6 y/o loved bunny.
😂😂❤

Celos. I’m on a flight to Maui and I just ate a turkey sandwich. Your meal looks so sumptuous.
Man Estuart, that looks super healthy.”Potaje” is quite popular on the drier Eastern Drier Canary Isles . Bon provecho Estuart
Superb. My sort of food.
sabroso y barato 👍

Hello,👋 from
Texas, USA
Nice one Stu.
Mesón los alfares opposite hospital de luz is the best from only 13€... Tony cuenca

Strange dreams, like Don Quijote de La Mancha 😄
@neme7827 lol, love it , after all the cheese and chips ' I am more like sancho panza
Making me hungry xx
I would love to eat this potaje. The chips look not well fried though and I originate from Belgium, the fried chips land. Probably the wrong potato or oil not correctly heat. Chips are not that easy to get them really right, crisp and soft inside.
I think it is more to do with the type of potato , I find most potato here doesn't cook a darker colour .
They are, sadly, always too pale and not crispy enough here in Spain, I think.
That looked fantastic. Is it common to get half servings at cafes or restaurants in Spain? How do you know where & how do you ask for it? I would rather have half serves & taste more plates.
Good review Stu
Just thinkiing i wondering about the leftovers you're taking them with you ? Good on you!
A meal there looks a bit different than where we live in Zafra Badajoz. Stu next time add a glass of wine to your bill 😁👍🍷
Been there many times .. best not sure about that... too crowded ..
We have those attached caps too even though we are no longer in the EU
No bread to soak up the tomato and potajé broth? Ha ha. I would be mixing some of my French fries with that tomato frito y huevo.
Sad not to see a glass of manchego red with that nice food
Knife and fork soup xx
I have. I think it's custard. Xx
When we move to Spain, I think the only food I will miss is Mexican Food.
when you move to Spain you won't miss mexican food at all, you won't miss any other food...You' ll be very busy tasting such a glorious gastronomy!!
That is good. I guessed 30 euros xx
I can't stand pisto... A bit like sick... Potaje is fantastic.. Rabbit is always tender..cuenca is a great place to eat my favourite restaurant is by alcampo supermarket.. El meson.. Tony cuenca
Hi Stu. Do you always ask the owner of these restaurants permission to film in their establishments? Have some of them banned you from filming?
Oh man so muc( food for 1 person …!, 😮😮😮😮
Vlue for nmoney - YES< YES YES, like you sy, there was enough for 2 possibly 3 people there
that was cheap ,and looked really good quality .
3 Plats en même temps....le lapin était froid surement :(
If anyone sees my escaped pet bunny, please lst me know. The kids really miss her. 😃

Hi. Yes.
@@spainspeaks Great, thanks! I will try that then, I haven't dared to :)
That’s ALOT of food for one
Glad you’re not eating it all, although a pity to waste delicious food
And it wasn’t wasted -excellent!
😢😢😢😩🙏🏻
I rip the tops off. Not hard. Drives me bonkers xx
I enjoy not dropping it on the floor or ground anymore :)
No da ni asco ,,, aswell !!!
PD: Salu2 !!!
Would be nice if you translate the names of the dishes into English
Lease stop flicking the food around when we have a close up. So annoying. Other than that I love the food videos. Oh and I live in south east Spain
You should title your video "one of the best" not the "best."
Vienna or Biel bienne don’t trust the Spanish food 😮
