UPDATE: The Lakers have waived two-way player Blake Hinson to make room for Christian Koloko (per LA Times). Comment your thoughts about Koloko/new squad down below! Subscribe to my 2nd channel for more (non-Lakers) NBA content! - ua-cam.com/channels/KtmxXgZuz1u__0U2Qfglrw.html
I'm a bit surprised that Hinson was waived, considering the leagues general fondness of 3pt shooting wings. But, even with Koloko's signing, the Lakers still look to be thinner in the frontcourt, as opposed to the backcourt. Which is probably why they chose to keep Traore, and Castleton. Keeping as many bigs in the stable, as insurance for AD, is smart when you really think about it.
You said it yourself. All he can do is spot up and he’s not even a proven shooter yet. And the league isn’t fond at all of just 3 pt specialists at all anymore. You have to excel in multiple areas or you’re just gonna get played off the court. Been like that for a decade now almost. This was One of Rob’s only good ideas so far this offseason to waive him, especially after not trading Dlo or AR. Both are great offensive players but liabilities on defense. we don’t need another one of those.
I think the reason they didn’t cut Traore instead is because with a vando and or rui being injured they rather have a backup plan that can defend at the sf/pf over one that just more of a shooter at those positions and I agree
While Austin Reeves undoubtedly has his supporters, it's evident that his style of play may not align with the Lakers' championship aspirations. At times, he appears to struggle with the rhythm of the game, often seeming awkward or relying on fortunate plays when he drives into traffic. For the Lakers to truly thrive, it may be essential to consider a role off the bench for Reeves, allowing him to contribute in a more focused capacity. This shift could unlock the team's potential, creating a more cohesive unit that maximizes the strengths of all players involved. Rather than envisioning a perfect scenario for Austin, let’s prioritize what’s best for the Lakers as a whole.
I still don’t agree with playing LeBron at PF. Never liked that move for this team. Would make more sense to keep him at SF- his true position, put AD back to PF, then Lakers wouldn’t have this log jam at the Center position
Too much is relied upon AD when he’s the only big starting. Not only does he has to cover for D’Lo, Reaves, and Lebron’s shortcomings defensively, he has to control the glass, interior, and rim protect- THEN we expect him to give us at least 25 points on the other end. That means if AD goes away from the paint for ANY reason Lakers have absolutely no one to rim protect even with Vando. At this stage of AD’s career that’s asking too much. If this is TRULY his team like everyone (including LeBron/front office) says take into serious consideration what he wants and that means playing alongside another big to help him out. It’s not about LeBron anymore AD is our best player. Plus with Lebron at SF he can still match the opponent’s SF in scoring that goes both ways. It’s just as much as an advantage for us as it is for them, no SF in the NBA is stopping LeBron single handedly even at 40.
The prospect of a healthy Lonzo Ball teaming up in the backcourt with D’Angelo Russell is electrifying. Lonzo has demonstrated an exceptional ability to complement star players like LeBron James, and his improved three-point shooting adds a critical dimension to the offense. Imagine the versatility of a starting lineup featuring a lockdown defender who can also stretch the floor-Lonzo’s defensive prowess at the point of attack would be invaluable, creating chaos for opposing offenses while providing space for dynamic scoring. The synergy between Lonzo and D’Lo could unlock a fluid and engaging style of play, with both players capable of initiating the offense and seamlessly taking turns bringing the ball up the court. Such a partnership would not only enhance individual performances but also elevate the entire team's play. In contrast, players like Austin Reeves, while talented, are more replaceable within the broader landscape of the league. The potential acquisition of either Lonzo or Ben Simmons-a player with similar defensive capabilities-offers a transformative opportunity. By trading AR15 and some added resources, the team could secure a high-impact player whose skill set better fits the vision of a championship contender. The defensive tenacity and shooting range provided by either player would make a distinct difference, setting the stage for a formidable backcourt that could lead the team to new heights.
Facts. the 1st legitimate movement/off-ball shooter is gone before a single real NBA game... I think Hinson has more potential as a 3pt shooter than Knecht personally. Hinson seems to take them with more volume..
Koloko is good addition but definitely doesn’t move the needle for the Lakers, we still have some tradable pieces that can be traded *cough cough* Rui hachimura
Christian Wood has been on more than 4 teams and the reason is he's not consistent he'll show up tonight and the nxt 3 games he's missing in action,he just don't have it,and vando is injury prone, this will be his 3rd season with the Lakers ,his legs,is so skinny, feet are boney, that's the reason he's always injured in those areas,he only plays about 14 games a season.
15 games, can they just see what lbj at point, Dlo and AR sg/sf, ad at the 4, and this koloko at 5? Sounds loco by I think they have the mojo to play the the parts for the lakeshow
Offensively, playing lbj at the point to set up plays and pick and choose his drives with 3 scorers and a pick and roll center. Defensively the line up may be criticized but a 3-2 zone doesn’t move lbj around and he plays d from the top, not move too much and no physical defensive match ups against pf if he is a pf. Also with the capability to ball watching. Could do a chase down block but not needed with 2 shot blockers
With this line up he still can be the sf switching up who handles the ball. The team should still do a zone as defensive the 1-2-3 don’t play good individually d. 3-2 or 2-1-2 d viable for this lineup. And focus to force players of the baseline when they have 3 shot blockers for help
So he is a poor mans poor mans poor mans version of Shaq. Can't switch and can't shoot outside 3 feet but can get you a few rebounds and blocks per 36 minutes.
Colin Castleton is so clumsy. I think he should be waived not Hinson. Lakers should trade Christian Wood and Jalen Hood Schufino to give way to Christian Koloko and Kylor Kelly to the Lakers' roster. Both are aggressive and I can see they have potentials, not Castleton. He's no match to Jokic, Embiid or Antetokounmpo bcoz he's so clumsy.
@theyrehere.3468 Trailblazers are not contenders. Spurs are a 30 win team at best. Other than the Utah Jazz, Trailblazers, and the Spurs, I think the Clippers will go down as well to around 35 wins.
Lonzo KCP Bron AD Claxton before he signed the extension Caruso AR15 Connect4 Kuzma Kessler Wood Christie Bronny Was the dream delusional scenario for this team. U got two way depth shooters scorers playmakers everything🤦🏾♂️. Dlo causes me so much pain😭
I need us to start reddish and max christie alongside of AD, DLO, and Bron and JHS is a good strong defender the problem with him is his jumper and can be turnover prone but everything else he is fine in.
Lewis has a guaranteed contract, Hinson did not. The Lakers are only 50K away from the 2nd apron. They could not financially afford to waive a guaranteed salary.
Oh yea that is true I would of never gave Lewis a contract cause I think Henson is a better shooter then him honestly but I don't think Henson should of gotten waived he was decent shooter honestly
I think we should put kolo with ad just because of his height and he could be a good taller vando built in terms of running the floor with bron easy lobs all day

I would’ve liked to keep Hinson buh I think he’ll find a good team else where that will give him an opportunity
Thank goodness. Was worried they would make the wrong choice.
If Vando can be ready for game 1 regular season, this team will be a top 4 seed.
Not until they update this Mother fucking roster
Trade Max Lewis and a 2nd for DUOP REATH. JSM hit nail on head about DUOP. Damn good Center.
@@johnhowe4211Will need that true 5 come playoff time but this roster is loaded with talent and they have a great coaching staff.
Are you on drugs😆😆😆
Stop it, bro😂😂 I swear this man is making y'all delusional. The Lakers are a play-in team or get the 6th seed at best
Welcome to the Lakers Universal Family. Congrats, Christian K. Watch WE WILL STRIKE BACK NEXT SEASON ❤🎉😮

Christian Koloko is here to save the lakers season! Let’s go what a huge offseason signing from Rob!
Solid 9th seed tbh. Rui was a no show in the playoffs and they just don’t have enough fire power and perimeter defense to take on elite teams
I still don’t agree with playing LeBron at PF. Never liked that move for this team. Would make more sense to keep him at SF- his true position, put AD back to PF, then Lakers wouldn’t have this log jam at the Center position
…so you want a 39 year old Lebron defending wing players for 30+ minutes per game? Not sure that ends well
Too much is relied upon AD when he’s the only big starting. Not only does he has to cover for D’Lo, Reaves, and Lebron’s shortcomings defensively, he has to control the glass, interior, and rim protect- THEN we expect him to give us at least 25 points on the other end. Blake Hinson can now join the list with Malik Beasley, Swider, Matt Ryan, Wayne Ellington & Reggie Bullock. We just don't like shooters 🤷🏻♂️

I actually think Rudy should play starter minutes even as a 6th man. Russell should have a backup PG role even though he's a starter.
If only you knew how important rebounding and changing/blocking shots really is.
@@ThaRealJamarcusIf you only you knew how much worse our offense will be if they decide to play two bigs 😂
Nooooo not Blake 😔
Lakers front office really making weird ahh decisions, why would u waive your best 3pt shooter from the SL
Devastating News... Lakers where simply putting the Bar higher for Centers with this move. Say By, By to White Boy. Don't touch Power Forwards Blake.

Just a training camp contract
Lakers just waved Blake Hinson
Hinson is a SG/SF?
they will be lucky to make it to the playoffs
