  • Lake Hodges San Diego/Escondido, San Diego County, Southern California. Silver Dollar Gum/Red Box Gum is a medium sized evergreen-leafed tree in the Myrtle Family (Myrtaceae), native to southeastern Australia, and is an abundant ornamental tree in coastal California.

    Very common here in Tucson and sold at all the big-box store nurseries. Many old ones have died around town after a long fight with drought. Luckily, we've had enough rain the past year to save many! Funny how one species can die out universally around town due to the drought...no supplemental water. When watered, they are gorgeous! Thanks again for a great video!

      I am glad you enjoyed the videos! I wasn't sure that these would be as hardy in a higher desert climate, but trees can really surprise us!!
