Music in the Schools-Trey McLaughlin Teaches Atlantic Coast HS Chorus "Optimistic" Video 1

On tour with his unbelievable choir "Sounds of Zamar", Trey McLaughlin took a Valentine's Day side trip to Jacksonville, Florida to teach the Atlantic Coast HS Chorus a thing or two about singing gospel. He's given a 21st century spin to "Optimistic", and in 90 minutes, he managed to teach the whole song to my teen choir. The videos go in tutorial sequence. It's fascinating to watch it all come together. And to top it all off, the chorus sang live in concert with Trey that night at the Ritz Theatre. Now...THIS is how "Music in the Schools" is supposed to be taught!

Trey McLaughlin's song, "Oh Come to the Altar" was such a comfort to me during the pandemic. The death that I experienced was an emotional one with someone I thought loved me. His ministry and the the beautiful voices of Zamar provided clarity and led me back to Christ. I'm forever grateful and I return to these videos and his music over and over. Blessed be the name of the Lord!!!

I’ve been wanting to know how this is done for so long! I knew this kind of choir doesn’t bother with written music, but I couldn’t quite picture how they get from square 1 to a complicated, polished piece of music. Now I see, and it’s a lot more work than I thought too 🙏🏻
