When I first saw this I was so curious as to what Gohan did because he was so baffled on how to bring out his hidden power. So after the scream, I won’t watch this anymore, he exploded and I’m like WTF DID HE JUST DO.
The build up to this moment was an absolute masterpiece by Akira Toriyama. Quite literally from the very beginning of the show, Toriyama displays Gohan’s dormant power. Shows it against Raditz, Frieza, and finally for Cell. Hundreds of episodes go by and we get to watch one of the best written anime characters ever do what he was created to do. Rest in Peace Akira Toriyama, you’ll be apart of our lives forever❤

I hate to say it, but this is even better than Goku turning ss1… The build up to SS2 is absolute mayhem. The world and its future is at stake, the z warriors are getting pummeled by mini cells, the music is blasting and the animation is at its peak. Although Goku vs Cell was the best fight, Gohan vs Cell was an unexpected climax that fit perfectly with where DBZ was heading. It’s an absolute shame how they massacred my boy Gohan in later episodes, but to me… the real DBZ ends in the Cell Saga.

Cell is a damn fool. It's definitely the saiyan arrogance to awaken Gohan, and Gohan is no different. Every level of super saiyan makes that saiyan more stupid. Goku at ss1 attempts to rescue frieza summarizing his galactic terrorisms as mischief. Vegeta desires to allow the androids to be freed and cells completion to test vegetas power. Gohan at ss2 toys with cell allowing cell to outsmart Gohan thus prompting goku to martyr and sacrifice himself and king kai. Goku and vegetas battle awakens Majin buu. Ss3 goku admits he could have beaten buu but wanted to give those 2 little shits, trunks and goten a try at being heros which was idiotic because they blew it by allowing buu to coerce them into fusing and absorbed them while Gohan allowed it after old Kai awaked gohans true power equivalent to ss3. The only saiyans with a brain were trunks due to his horrible experience with the androids and vegito who rescued the captured z fighters They should be called stupid saiyans instead of super.
He was meant to be the main protagonist heading into the Buu saga but Toriyama was pressured by the editors to keep it as Goku, because the Japanese preferred Goku. (If in not mistaken of course).

Gohan transforming into a ssj2 was still the greatest and unforgettable moment. Because even though he was a child he was able to defeat cell with no difficulty when others didn't.
He was saying that in relation to Vegeta and Trunks, who fought him in their ascended ssj forms. They had powered up their strength at the cost of their speed. It's why Cell also says, "You're making the same mistake Trunks did, boy." Ssj2 was something else, fortunately.
The 1st time he was just releasing his energy in the hyperbolic time chamber and Goku felt the potential but this is his first time actually transforming to SSJ2

They really dropped the ball with Gohan. He was the coolest character up until this point and they had to ruin him after. Adult Future Gohan from Trunks timeless is the GOAT

This scene is really sweet because it is dr geros son talking to gohan, telling him to destroy his fathers creations. It is quite poetic, just two sons of rival fathers having a moment Also something to think about, Goku made friends with eighter before he died, and gohan with sixteen.
Gohan going SSJ2 will forever be my favorite transformation, and as much as I must admit that Goku going SSJ for the first time is forever iconic to the series, Gohan going SSJ2 and unlocking that level just hits a lot more differently. It’s just a shame how they did him in the Majin Buu saga. He didn’t deserve to be written the way he was, but I’m glad Super kinda helped set him straight. And I’ll happily take this timeline for him; He may have died a hero in the original timeline, but he deserved better before that happened
The fact that Gohan never went all out in that form against Cell is still one of the coldest things in DBZ. They had to let Gohan get hit by a cheap shot to save Vegeta to make the fight even again. Imagine Gohan powered up to 100% in that Form. He´d take out Cell with a single punch.
Back in budokai tenkaichi 2 it was awesome seeing gohan at ssj2 the first time and was able to fight all 5 cell juniors. Obviously the anime version of this story makes him look really powerful taking on Cell as well.
Its the correct version too 💯💯💯.. Cell's comment is what makes it for me.. I hate when he says "Thats enough prattling on" or whatever.. Its the "Yet another fighter, you could have saved".... it slams home that everyone is going to be ended unless Gohan stops them..
