      I think the throttle was stuck open or something - she's rough, but she runs. I ordered an SHA carb from Treatland to replace the funky motorized bicycle carb. Thanks!

    1:03 have 2 of these mopeds normal 40 orange model and Chrome “luxury” Yellow 50v model. They both have the original words on them 😬
    Also fun fact : You can start these mopeds without sitting on them. While on the kick stand bring the right peddle to the top, decompress, (and choke depending on if cold or hot), then simply push down on that peddle and when the peddle reaches bottom dead center release the decompress lever. Notice if you cant start your bike this way this may be a sign your clutch cant grab as tight as its suppose to and you might need to replace it soon :)

    Good lord I remember having one of these things back in 1978 what a palaver soon ditched it for a Suzuki AP 50 that had a kickstart & actually went reliable

      Haha! Yeah these things are literally insane to start if you don’t know what you’re doing. Probably my favorite looking moped though

    Never used the pedals on mine. I just pushed it forward off the kickstand and pulled the levers. It always started in a foot or three.

    Hello yeah, thanks homie. Was having trouble starting this beast, but now it fired off. A simple order of operations really helps sometimes. Mon Français est mal, so English helps too.

    Can you use the bike just with peddling ?

    • @RestoCycles
      @RestoCycles  3 роки тому +3

      Yes you can, if you notice in my video I mention that there is a switch on that little wheel were the belt is connected to. If you switch that the other direction you’ll engage bicycle mode. This bike is actually one of the better mopeds you can ride as a bike. Probably #2 in my opinion, #1 being a Vespa ciao

    i got a moby, when i let go of the decomp the lever doesnt go back to its position. I have suggestions on what to check, or mess with?

    • @RestoCycles
      @RestoCycles  4 роки тому +1

      First things first moby’s are a pain. I would first suggest looking at the cable. Make sure its properly lubed up. If its not your cable the I’d check that decomp out. Maybe take the head of the engine off and investigate it a little more.

    It states in the user manual to 'never' mount on the bike whilst it's on the stand. You should start it from one side without putting your weight on the stand....

    • @RestoCycles
      @RestoCycles  2 роки тому +2

      It also states to only have 1 rider but yet comes with a 2 person seat. Good info though, you may be the first person to have read that.

      @@RestoCycles ha.. I only read that because I just inherited a motobecane and it isn't working - no spark.. Not even knowing how it operates I found a pdf online.. I of course a real oaf at 110kg was on the bike trying to pedal start it.. Then I saw I really shouldn't.. Of course you look a lot lighter.... 🤣

    • @RestoCycles
      @RestoCycles  2 роки тому +1

      @@newbeginnings8566 haha I’m just messing around, I’m sure accidents could happen. Unfortunately motobecane makes it that you have to take the flywheel cover off to clean the points, but if you’re having a problem with spark I would first, check all of your wiring make sure you have all your bulbs inserted tightly. Then check to make sure everything is connected and not cut anywhere. If anything was corrected check for spark again. If still no spark change the spark plug. If still not spark check that on/off switch out. Then lastly I would invest in motobecane specific tools to get that fly wheel cover off and clean the points. Unfortunately motobecane mopeds are not easy bikes AT ALL! VERY HARD TO WORK ON BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE!

    • @newbeginnings8566
      @newbeginnings8566 2 роки тому +1

      @@RestoCycles yes I got the flywheel cover off.. I have the spark from the condenser.. I think the problem is the high tension.. I have buzzed everything through... The tyres are all perished - it was last used 40 years ago...
      I think they are a bit fiddly at first but more or less simple to work on... For sure I'll need to spend some money.. I have a N50 superconfort from 1970.. It was used by my partner to go to school..
