Archie Mafeje’s legacy honoured

The Vice-Chancellor’s Inaugural Lecture was presented by Professor Shahid Vawda on Wednesday 8 August. It was titled The Provocation of Archie Mafeje and focused on the legacy of Professor Archibald Monwabisi Mafeje.
Professor Vawda, a respected scholar, currently holds the Archie Mafeje Chair in Critical and Decolonial Humanities as well as the directorship of the School of African and Gender Studies, Anthropology and Linguistics in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Cape Town.
