    After finagling with this for a bit I have some tips:
    1. When watching the video, turn it to the slowest setting and pause for every second to look at the folds. Hold it exactly like see does, examine every line, triangle, and square.
    2. Once you've got your grid and begin doing the major folds, you'll create what I call a basket base. When you make your folds, the triangles you folded in front of the main shape will create the 'walls' of the basket. the flaps that you folded to the back will create the 'handles'
    3. The bottom left and upper right corners fold together to create the triangle shape, the flaps are there to anchor the pieces together.
    4. Don't forget to push the bottom of the 'basket' shape out to make a nice plump tripryamid.
    5. folding the flaps in will take a little bit of finagling, and I made another one of these just to see how I did it, and it was a combination of both closing techniques which was to fold one flap on the inside, and then use a seam on the outside to insert the other flap. But do try both techniques to see which way you prefer!

    Like others, I was hopelessly lost around the 4:00 mark. After hours of frustration, I gave up! The next day I tried again, watching every step at .25 speed. I also read the comments and learned that I was not alone! I started with a fresh sheet of paper and went very slowly, and FINALLY it came together, almost like magic! It was worth the effort to overcome the challenge. Thank you for an inspiring video and very cool design!

    Thank you, finally worked it out. I had to slow down video after 4 mins, then ensure you have a box, then collapse the box inwards. then tuck in flap. Thank you David it was worth all the wasted paper and the frustration.

    I do feel like the multicolored green is a bit distracting and I couldn't follow where you were folding even when I slowed the video down to it's slowest setting. Two sad sheets of origami paper made it's way to the trash can... It was a bit of a miss for me, but if others can follow it hats off to them.

    Between 4:00 and 4:40-ish is very hard to follow. But if you've followed accurately prior to that and slow it to .25 speed, it will come together if you're very patient.

  • @daviddonahue7517
    @daviddonahue7517 6 років тому +6

    By the Way...
    It can be collapsed to be flat by finding the "soft side" (the one without flaps beneath) pressing it flat. Then "pop" it back by pressing on the two corners at the end of the valley fold created in the collapse. Hold it up to a bright light to see the side I mean. Now you can transport it in a pocket or book or box and "magically make a 3D object.

    Thank you David Donahue for creating this model and thank you Paper Kawaii for teaching us how to fold it. It's one of my favourite models to fold it's simple & precise yet forgiving and elegant. I even made it as fortune cookie triangle for a recent event. Just added quotes and candies inside, like a party favour.
