    Cool Information about MERCEDES ABC SYSTEM
    In the ABC system, a computer detects body movement from sensors located throughout the vehicle, and controls the action of the active suspension with the use of hydraulic servomechanisms. The hydraulic pressure to the servos is supplied by a high pressure radial piston hydraulic pump. A total of 13 sensors continually monitor body movement and vehicle level and supply the ABC controller with new data every ten milliseconds. Four level sensors, one at each wheel measure the ride level of the vehicle, three accelerometers measure the vertical body acceleration, one acceleration sensor measures the longitudinal and one sensor the transverse body acceleration. At each hydraulic cylinder, a pressure sensor monitors the hydraulic pressure. As the ABC controller receives and processes data, it operates four hydraulic servos, each mounted in series on a spring strut, beside each wheel. Almost instantaneously, the servo regulated suspension generates counter forces to body lean, dive and squat during various driving maneuvers. A suspension strut, consisting of a steel coil spring and a shock absorber are connected in parallel, as well as a hydraulically controlled adjusting cylinder, are located between the vehicle body and wheel. These components adjust the cylinder in the direction of the suspension strut, and change the suspension length. This creates a force which acts on the suspension and dampening of the vehicle in the frequency range up to five hertz.
    The system also incorporates height-adjustable suspension, which in this case lowers the vehicle up to 11 mm (0.43 in) between the speeds of 60-160 km/h (37-99 mph) for better aerodynamics, fuel consumption, and handling.
    The ABC system also allows self-leveling suspension, which raises or lowers the vehicle in response to changing load (i.e. the loading or unloading of passengers or cargo). Each vehicle equipped with ABC has an “ABC Sport” button that allows the driver to adjust the suspension range for different driving style preferences. This feature allows the driver to adjust the suspension to maintain a more level ride in more demanding driving conditions.
    The Mercedes-Benz C112 of 1991, Mercedes-Benz Vario Research Car of 1995 and the Mercedes-Benz F200 of 1996 already featured prototype versions of ABC.
    The first complete and ready-for-production version of ABC was introduced in 1999 on the top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz CL-Class
    In 2010 a crosswind stabilization function was introduced. In strong gusts of crosswind, and depending on the direction and intensity of the wind having an effect on the vehicle, this system varies the wheel load distribution in such a way that the effects of winds are largely compensated or reduced to a minimum. For this purpose, the ABC control unit uses the yaw rate, lateral acceleration, steering angle and road speed sensors of the Electronic Stability Program ESP®.

      @timmzey_1985 just a few minutes if your abc pump is working. This is fluid so unlike air that needs to build up pressure. I left a diagram in the video description that explains the different components of the systems.

    You should also check it after the engine has been off for at least 10 minutes, ideally much longer, using the other side of the dipstick. You will likely find the level is now considerably above the 'engine on' maximum. This is because one or many of the accumulaters (buffers) has blown it's diaphragm, which is why the level was showing so low in the first place.

    • @oplac1
      @oplac1 7 місяців тому

      sorry should have said 'engine off' maxium there.

    First off, the light you're pointing at on the dash is not an indicator of low fluid. That is an indicator of what level you have selected for your suspension. Second, you don't use the same fluid in the power steering side of the pump as you do the suspension side. Two separate types of fluid. Too many people online doing guessing games when it comes to ABC systems.

      The abc system runs the suspension on the S55 ( hydraulic no air ) and it’s is the same fluid!

    Whenever you need to add ABC oil, that means your buffer tanks have gone old, cracked and started leaking (they are made from rubber).

      Jimi, if you have a hydraulic system in your benz then you should have a shop check the system pressure while the vehicle ABC system is doing a "RODEO". These ABC systems use the power steering tandem system. I had included a link to the BEST information troubleshooting guide for Mercedes ABC system I've ever found in the description of the video, but here it is drive.google.com/file/d/1FTt743wQp96uAaD_Zapx43qNq7GeViI2/view

      You have a bad sensor. It self levels when it's parked. Bad sensor makes one side go all the way down. Does nothing when driving just when you park it. Don't take it to Mercedes thou. They'll tell you $4000 and will ruin your car.

    • @RANDOMFIX
      @RANDOMFIX  6 років тому +6

      Speeddemon002, Most people only touch the ABC fluid when there is a problem. I recommend treating it transmission fluid 5 year or 60k miles. Also, there is a filter inside the reservoir make sure you change that as well. A lot easier to change the fluid. Use a vacuum pump ($100) to basically suck the old fluid out if you're like me and don't want to get your hands dirty. Best of luck. _RandomFix

      There are youtube vids on how to flush. At least every 40k miles. You need to change the filter too. Amazon sells 20ltr's of Pentosin CHF-11S. With shipping and handling, comes out to $11.45 per ltr. Good for 2 flushes using 10ltrs per flush. The filter too...$36.

    • @frankburdodrums8984

      They (Mercedes) recommends every 40000 miles this way they won't can ruin your car.
      I recommend checking the fluid level (chf 11s) and adding as needed. Then see if you ever have a problem. Guess what you won't.
      Mercedes makes great cars.
