As far as i know no, Each building has a specific craftsman for it. That was the first thing I was looking for when I played and it seems u can not change them.
If u want their spell cards yes. U have to get the craftsman to a certain level before u can even brew their spell card. And then to get the next tier card for them u need to level them higher
Pretty much like all the other war games, call of dragons, age of empires mobile, etc. Just characters that are named by famous historians. Ill be making videos on it

Its a mobile game, I'm not sure wat more needs to be said. Free to download mobile games always let u speed up ur progress by spending money. Idk why anyone is surprised. U guys must be new to mobile games
@Arnold-tj9dr if you want every character: pretty much yes. But it's possible to play without money. Just need a lot more time to reach your goals. I'm playing ot for a few days now and there's a lot of stuff to do/ collect. I really enjoy it so far 😊

It will be fun for a bit. Right now mobile games feel kinda bland to me. Waiting for something new to come out.
