G7 sound that loud ONLY ON THE TABLE... You should take them both in hand and test also this way too because not all the time we carry a table with us. The surface of the phone (g7) transfer sound vibration to the table and make this resonate în tune with the sound. Boombox sound booster.
These videos do not do the ThinQ speaker(s) justice. I hesitantly returned my S9+ and purchased the ThinQ, the ThinQ hands down has the best sounding speaker(s). From I've learned the down firing speaker IS NOT the only speaker. It seems that somehow LG has managed to put at least one other speaker towards the back of the device. If you cover the down firing speaker when listening to music you will notice. And the bass, no other phone has the bass the ThinQ has. In my opinon the ThinQ has true surround sound on a smartphone. I am very satisfied with the ThinQ.
I bought a lightly used sprint LG V30+ on ebay a couple weeks ago with a father's day discount code for $260 shipped. I quickly converted it to open market and rooted it, and now it's running beautifully on t-mobile. V30 blows the G7 out of the water based on value alone since you can get them so cheap now. The G7 is only a minor upgrade in some areas (processor), and a notable downgrade in others (screen). It's too bad LG value sinks like a rock bc V30 was probably the best phone of 2017. But it's great for those looking for a deal!

I recall the HTC One M8 being an upgrade to the M7, but I could not shake how much I loved the m7. I'm really loving my V30+ and I'm notch gonna switch to the G7.
For me the narrower filed of view (107°) on the G7 wide angle lens is a deal breaker, what's the point if you keep narrowing down the viewing angle when it supposed to be a wide angle lens, the 120° field of view on the V30 is the sweetest spot for an ultra wide angle camera. I see no distortion from it. And the notch, the top and bottom bezel is a little thicker on the G7 (when you hide the notch), and the display aspect ratio is even longer, OMG, an eyesore to look at that slim footprint. V30 looks perfectly balanced overall.
You could tell the V30 was recording audio better, seemed better to me, anyway. Also the HDR P-LED screen is really nice! That speaker on the G7 though, wow. Thanks for a cool and thorough comparison.
at the end of the day price dictates my decision... I have the V30+ w/the 8.0 Oreo. The G7's external speaker does sound better but it's speed by milliseconds does not impress me. If I didn't have the V30 I probably would get this phone....but I do and this video does not persuade me otherwise. Great comparison though...:)

V30 in my country costs 499, so tempted to buying at that price. I know the G7 is better, but the price is what matters to me. I use headphones most of the time and I am not an audiophile. Just want something that is clear and loud enough for me to hear.
Theres quite a few you gave to the G7 but clearly you hit it early on the G7 or don't take into account the differences in the UX versions with different animations and such.
Unless something better comes to T-Mo, I'll be getting the G7 to replace the G6. The speaker, display, cameras and processor upgrades are enough to sway me. And 64Gb storage. Even with an SD card, this 32Gb on the G6 just isn't cutting it.

I've been an LG fan for about 6 years now, but the aspect ratio on their latest flagship phones are getting out of hand. I have the LG V30+ and most of my apps are cut off at the top and bottom in landscape mode because the screen is so long and narrow. It looks like the screen size for the G7 is even narrower. 😞
If u owned a V30 the only real problem with it is the garbage 5mp front facing camera. My S6 has a better front facing camera smh. Everything else has been done perfectly on the V30.
G7 is displaying more in most cases that it loses to the v30. As long as web page loads extras compared to the v30 it will be slower. kinda like facebook in desktop mode without facebook app. If it has to load in a zoomed back like 50% instead of 150% zoom mode it will be slower.

Both phones have nice cameras but they are letting in too much light (especially on the G7) and the shots are over-exposed. Compare the video with the main camera on the G7 with the video using wide-angle (the latter not allowing as much light in).
When playing the sound, do either of these phones have a setting that boosts volume? I know my LG G5 does and it's much louder now. Thanks for your help.
V30 seemed to win most application launches. The G7's camera is WAY better, but it's been known for a while that the V30 has a terrible camera compared to it's competition.
True but a bluetooth speaker or earbuds will sound the same on both. The screen on the V30 is better and that's more important to me than sound because I'll barely ever use the phone speaker for sound.

Venom415 doesn't mean it's better quality. It's the same quality dac, the only difference is they include dts:X surround sound for a sorta spatial listening experience. If you want that you can always use a 3D audio app www.waves.com/nx/mobile-app Most of the added presets was for the spatial audio, it's still not manual tuning which would've been nicer. You aren't missing much if you have the v30 to the g7. Both default at 4gbs of ram and have almost equal gaming performance, 4gbs is kinda low they should've launched it standard with 6gbs.
during "temple run 2" game and other screens V30 seemed brighter, could show dark places better and the colors in v30 seemed better. I was waiting for G7 but the display in this review made me consider further :/

well the notch is physical so on most apps like youtube you can pinch to zoom in or out and choose for the video to go past the notch area or not

When playing the sound, do either of these phones have a setting that boosts volume? I know my LG G5 does and it's much louder now. Thanks for your help.

I like V30 design wise alot but the speaker is disappointment to me
I wonder how big the V40 will be since they made the g7 the size of the v30.
V30 seemed to win most application launches. The G7's camera is WAY better, but it's been known for a while that the V30 has a terrible camera compared to it's competition.

well V30 is more vibrant and G7 is more realistic looking and brighter. so for watching media I'd prefer V30 but for most other stuff I prefer G7
Lg v30, it has improved oled that from pixel 2 in g7 its old lcd panel

True but a bluetooth speaker or earbuds will sound the same on both. The screen on the V30 is better and that's more important to me than sound because I'll barely ever use the phone speaker for sound.

I have both phones in 2024,and I'm not gonna give them up, both are great phones with minuses and pluses.
I heard the g7 had better options and cusyomizations in its dac software compared to the v30, wondering of that's true or not.
Venom415 doesn't mean it's better quality. It's the same quality dac, the only difference is they include dts:X surround sound for a sorta spatial listening experience. If you want that you can always use a 3D audio app

Most of the added presets was for the spatial audio, it's still not manual tuning which would've been nicer. You aren't missing much if you have the v30 to the g7. Both default at 4gbs of ram and have almost equal gaming performance, 4gbs is kinda low they should've launched it standard with 6gbs.
I think the V30 might get the DTS thing in the 8.1 or 9 update
From the video the display of V30 thinq seems bifar better than g7 thinq. Am I seen wrong or is display wise V30 thinq is better ?
it's more vibrant, although I think the G7 is more realistic looking. just personal preference though
during "temple run 2" game and other screens V30 seemed brighter, could show dark places better and the colors in v30 seemed better. I was waiting for G7 but the display in this review made me consider further :/

check this video. Both here and other video you will see that WHITEs on G7 is NOT GOOD. So, imho G7 has 2nd quality display for such a good phone. I dont want the best display but I also dont want a 2nd tier display. video G7 vs S9+ vs X vs P20. Also, G7 can boost for 3 minutes other phones do not have a limit.

Obviously I don't even use my front camera on the V30. I'm always using the rear cameras.
