What is it about trees that are so fascinating to men? I started trying to bonsai some local trees where I'm at, when they got big enough i said I'd make them porch trees in pots, now I'm planting them. Mostly for deer as well, got 7 apple tree from apple seeds this spring.

I like your style, Dude :)
You sound a lot like Sam Elliott.
I planted six hardware cloth enclosures with a dozen or so northern red oaks and shagbark hickory two years ago. I've been perusing YT and elsewhere to see if it'd be wise to remove the enclosures, thin the herd down to the strongest contender in each, and install a tube around said contenders....or just leave things be for another year or two to let them sort things out for themselves within the hardware cloth protective enclosure.

Great Idea, but you planted the trees to close to one another,

I have planted some Chestnut and Persimmon trees, same as you for wildlife. I think what you do is worth the time and effort. Planting a few trees is easy, but it all takes time to develop. I have made some video's also with my iphone. Someone told me that if I hold my iphone sideways instead of straight, the video will come out full screen instead of a narrow screen. I am an old guy like you and are not very techie.Nice trees.

I find red oaks growing way faster then white oaks. At least in first 2 years from acorns sprout, whites are several times smaller, 8 inches vs. more than 50 inches on reds.
