this is so amazing, it really was like a journey for me. like at the beginning with all the rings scenes, it just really showed me her struggle on being married twice, on feeling unfaithful, feeling like she couldn't keep her promise to both man. and then there was all those scenes where their foreheads touch, and then they hold each other's heads, and it shows there intense intense connection, and then it becomes intimate. and all throughout the vid, the stones scenes, showing, as you said, that she's always coming back to him. and it was so beautiful a journey!!!

thank you very much! i loved how well the imagery of the lovers returning to one another "like a moth to a flame" throughout this song could really be mapped onto claire's interactions with the stones, and how they represent her relation to jamie - it all of its danger and passion and intensity - throughout the series.

I’ve wanted to vid these two and this show for so long but everytime I start on a project, I’m just.. nope. I can never ever get to the same level as Briony. YOU ARE A FUCKING GODDESS WITH EDITING THIS SHOW. How you can notice all of those little details and parallels is beyond me. This video is just as perfect as always!!!

This is absolutely exquisite! I love all the parallels that you've caught between the visits to the stones and you've captured the essence of Claire and Jamie's relationship in such vivid detail, well done!

This was a really cool take on their relationship. I love the focus you decided to take on the stones and the time travel. Not having audio really added to the whole experience. Even though I've seen every episode, I'm really not that familiar with the clips of the show. But with this... I just felt every bit of it. (Especially the shots where Claire confesses to Jamie about who she really is and when she reaches for his hand instead of Frank's.) This was perfectly done.

    Blood all over
    I feel alright
    Lay me down now
    In this red stone light
    I knew you were danger
    I knew you were harm
    But I kept on coming
Like a moth to a flame
Bring me down when all is broken
    Quiet voice so softly spoken
    I'm your stranger
    On neon roads
    So come on over
    My glowing rose
    I need your danger
    I need your harm
    To pull me closer
Bring me down when all is broken
    Quiet voice so softly spoken

the queen strikes again! briony, i honestly dont even know how it's possible for you to completely reinvent your editing of jamie and claire like your ability to showcase all their different facets is beyond incredible. i LOVE love love the hand parallels and the shift pov near the middle, i love how you always allow the clips to breathe and transcend into each other and i am continually in love with your song choices, forever and always

wow, Hannah!! I'm honestly so touched by what you said about my ability to reinvent my editing of Jamie and Claire with each vid. I genuinely worry a lot about risking uploading the same video of them each time but with a different song, so it's really reassuring to hear you say that. Thank you

Every time I try to comment on your videos I'm left speechless and incapable of simply trying to put into words how marvelous and gorgeous they are, and also because I feel as though I will never be able to do justice to it, especially when some comments are so well written in describing their favorite bits in detail. I'm sorry I can't leave minute marks on which specific parts I refer to, but there are still so many favorite parts of mine in this video.
To put it simply, I love every transition in this, but I especially love the parallels with specific scenes and how they match up to the lyrics in the song. I loved the side by side parts of the scenes where Jamie sees Claire in her wedding dress and then in her red one, the scenes where he pulls her in closer to him, and especially the ones where they huddle close in bed together. I adored how in the parts of the song that are slow and almost sad, with the lyrics "lay me down on all that's broken", you have devastating moments like Claire having a miscarriage or visiting Jamie's family grave.
Also love how you have the scene with Jamie being tied to the post after being flogged come in right before Claire washing herself off of blood and stitching up cuts.
I LOVED the part where you put in Jamie standing in front and gazing at Claire's window right before their first meeting together and then have Claire in castle Leoch for the first time. I really adored that bit.
The transitions in both guitar rifs, with one having scenes of Claire coming to the stones and having to choose between staying and going before cutting to scenes of Jamie and Claire were just so perfect. It added into this really amazing build up and felt like such a good showing of a recurring element in the show, with Claire either having to choose of leave by force and how her feelings are deeply tied to Jamie and how its such a huge element when having to face this decision, whether its where she has a choice in leaving or staying or when she doesn't and can't bear to leave him. I also just love the last bit because you intersect moments of passion and intense love with gentleness and familiarity that they have with one another, which is such a perfect way in portraying their relationship and that specific physical side which is a very big part in who they are together. I adore this song but I adore it even more so when I watch this video.
I promise I will comment on your other videos but I first must say that you have an incredible talent in putting in scenes with specific song bits that match and the way you intersect in between and do parallels with each scene is completely perfect. Your videos are simple in style but bear so much meaning and feeling and emotion with how they go from scene to scene and part to part, and that's what makes them so glorious to watch. They don't have much dialogue but you leave everything to be said through scenes and the music, which is just so amazing and further shows your talent for this. Thank you so much for making this and so many other great videos, I feel so fortunate to have stumbled upon this amazing show and to have you as a source of these beautiful videos.

k so, i know i meant to wait to comment on this and your last Outlander vid, since i haven't completely caught up yet. but i can't help myself here. especially because i've had this song stuck in my head since you made this.
i really love how you started this video, with those beautiful wide shots of craigh na dun and claire heading towards it, and then flicking away, almost like a dance. and then, those ring parallels!! so beautifully done.
i love how you contradict the lyrics in the first verse of the song - "i feel alright" with showing jamie's flogging. and then, how you lead into the parallels of claire at the stones again, the cut to black and then continuation of those parallels, there is such a deep poignancy in this moment. the hollowness and enormity in that wide shot you end this segment with, of claire sitting on the grass alone, and then the music suddenly picks up and she's now in jamie's arms.
THE RESTRAINT. you maintain here... that long drawn out shot. no cuts!
the pov shift! really loved the way you edited the segment from 1:40-1:46. how you use and then return to the shot of jamie watching claire from the first episode and do the same with the shot of claire in the castle.
    1:52. that's all i have to say.
i really love the shot at 2:04 that you matched with the lyric 'pull me closer'.
and, god, the entire segment that begins at 2:09. the poignancy, the yearning.... it honestly may be my favorite bit of this whole video, i just really love the way it's edited. the timing of the internal movement of claire's hands from 2:16-2:20, and then how you do the same thing, once again starting at 2:30 but now her hand is retracting. excuse me.
also that one shot of jamie in the archway at lallybroch around 2:27 literally destroyed me thanks.
remember how i said that progression that starts at 2:39 was the part of this song i liked least? yeah, i changed my mind now. because those parallels of claire walking towards craigh na dun again are just beautiful and such an amazing build up leading toward the final act of this. i especially love the way she steps back at 2:49 and then turns forward at 2:50.
and then those kissing parallels, wow!! so unexpected. and i know i already cited other parts of this video as being my favorite BUT the use of the shot where claire slowly moves her hand away from the railing and reaches out at 3:27 is actually my favorite part of this entire video. like i legit stop the video and replay that moment. it works so well with the pull of that chord in the guitar solo.
and the intense way the video ends!! feeling very much like a 'to be continued.'
as always with your Outlander vids (well, all your vids), i'm so impressed by how much thought was put into each of the shots you've chosen, and each segment of this video. and how clearly those ideas are executed. you are truly a force to be reckoned with when it comes to editing this show. i honestly don't know what i'll do if i ever come to edit it, what i would even be able to bring to the table that you haven't already done so impeccably well. you are really THE QUEEN.

Briony I can only marvel at your ability to edit these two/the show with such feeling and detail. I've loved this song for a long time now and I never could've imagined you vidding it with outlander, this is literally everything I never knew I needed. I love LOVE the lyric interpretation you did throughout the video with the "I kept on coming like a moth to a flame", I got shivers every single time. And your parallels, like 1:08 or 1:52 with "my glowing rose" I CAN'T TAKE THIS. I miss them so much and you have definitely made the wait for the show a lot easier (less than five days to go!) with such an incredibly beautiful tribute.

guess who comment got deleted AGAIN because i pressed the 'next' button instead of pause ANYWAY
so first of, I'm so glad that you sorted out the render issues because this is FLAWLESS as always from you Briony.
I just love all the shots of the HANDS/RINGS and just how it's that point of focus for Claire at various moments in her life (also you internal movement is flawless like that shot of her opening her eyes at about 0:12 wow)
All the shots of the blood and scars and the harshness in those shots contrasted with the shots immediately after with them being just SO SOFT and comfortable in bed ughhhhh
AND THEN "I knew you were danger, I knew you were harm" with her at the stones on the precipice of change and unaware of what that change is and contrasting it with "But I kept on coming, like a moth to a flame" with that shot of her at the stones again but this time with PURE UNADULTERATED JOY (and KNOWING what it means to go through them again this time) on her face (also the use of the light, like the flame referenced in the song just WOW)
OK AND THEN, THOSE SHOTS OF HER AT VARIOUS STAGES WHERE SHE HAS BEEN 'lost' or 'broken' AND THE CONTRASTING CUTS WITH HER WHEN SHE WENT THROUGH THE STONES TO THE PAST (and Jamie) AND RETURNING BACK TO THE FUTURE AND THE LOSS OF JAMIE (and ofc after her miscarriage NO THANKS)
"Quiet voice so softly spoken" and those shots of her searching for ... something each time and then cutting to black and leading to that shot of Jamie holding her so tight (also I love that the music is so fast and frantic there but the shot is long and slow GOD DAMN WOMAN!)
"I'm your stranger on neon roads" and that shot of him outside her window I SEE YOU VILLAIN!!!! I SEE YOU!!!!
"So come on overm my glowing rose" and the way you have that shot at 'glowing rose' with Claire on their wedding day and the light hitting her THAT IS FUCKING ART (AND THEN HER IN /THAT/ RED DRESS LITERALLY LOOKING LIKE A ROSE) (also, side note: her being described as a rose, like an English rose by Jamie is now something I'm going to imagine and cry about)
all those shots of them so close to each other in all those moments of danger and fear (with the lyrics as well BYE) and just being so in the others space and needing to be with each other IM CRYING BRIONY
THEN THOSE SHOTS OF CLAIRE IN THE 60'S SEARCHING FOR HIM AND AT CULLODEN WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS
You actually made me cry with the shots of her just looking for him then cutting to that shot of Jamie at 2:25 with the lyrics "quiet voice so softly spoken" i am in actual tears i hate you GOD SHE STILL REMEMBERS HIM SO VIVIDLY AND AS HIS YOUNG SELF IM GOING TO BE SOBBING AT THIER REUNION
I know you were struggling a bit with the faster part at the end (I feel you on that) but you fucking nailed it ofc you did. All those cuts of her at the stones (with and without jamie) each cut to that beat and then the faster beat coming in and that RUSH of clips of them kissing and touching each other in that way that is so intimately them and the emotions spilling at that point and then ending it with that zoom in on that stone, the root of all of her happiness and also despair.
Briony, i know you always talk to me about when you have struggled with editing and then I see the end result like here and I'm like "umm where??? this is perfect???" but honestly, this is art as always from you, i love them and i love your love for them so much and you have once again, done them the justice they deserve

Also, I love those shots of her at first "reaching" for him and going into that space and then how she pulls back and away from him and the space ugh

wow you really did cry omg. I broke you!!! I FEEL SO ALIVE!!! You know I always love re-watching my vid as I read through your comments about it because it always really enriches my own interpretation of the vid, to be able to see it through a close friend's eyes. So thank you for providing this experience, time and time again.
Also I'm so happy you noticed that the light of the stones literally looks like a flame in the reflection of Claire's eyes!!! You know I went there!!! And I was actually so happy when I figured out that I wanted to use those two scenes on the "glowing rose" line because they were just!!! so!!! perfect!!!! I am also crying at your reference to Claire being an English Rose. This is so true, and I hate you.
Thank you so, so much for all of this, Faayza
