Houses In Motion is reworked from original tapes, recorded in 1980 with Martin Hannett. This track, a Talking Heads cover, was intended as a collaboration with Grace Jones. Although Jones attended a session with the band at Strawberry Studios in Stockport, her vocals were never completed and the vocal on this version (recorded by Jez Kerr, prior to him becoming the band’s singer) was only ever intended as a guide vocal.
Jez Kerr continues, "It was great to find this lost track and, even though the original idea was for Grace Jones to sing on it, I think this version captures the essence of ACR at their best - when we are being ACR and sounding like no one else."

Had a record from them back then. Did not think about them for >30 years, woke up tonight, suddenly the band name popped up in my head and here we are. Still a great band.

i'm one who has everything ACR have recorded since 1979 when i 1st found them...and stayed with for decades..in my music radio shows when i play ACR i state that A Certain Ratio are my go to for UK experimental funk delicious dark funk and atmospheres. About bloody time they got the recognition, long over due, and makes this old fart grin in smugness..see I told ya! ACR have no peer in music and the new generations have discovered treasure..and 1 great example right here.

This is great!!! I love Talking Heads and I love A Certain Ratio. While I'd always pick the original, this is a wonderful cover and so very cool. Long live ACR.
Plus the Eno connection. He co-wrote and produced this and ACR take their name from an Eno lyric.
