- This is my full review of the XTU MAX PRO 4K@60 action camera. btw, I threw in a BUNCH of comparisons of this camera vs a lot of budget cameras from 2021 :)
Quick update, XTU has confirmed it is using the Ambarella H22 chipset and will be addressing the focus distance in the release model.
Pricing is $189 with a $20 off coupon will bring this down to $169 !

For me as a small youtuber and a beginner very worth it... It's hard to place order in Amazon for me... And that prices for me it's expensive together the shipping fee...
One main point here is that the MaxPro has a much wider field of view. This is important when considering EIS. So, this is the only camera I see that has similar wide angle as the Osmo or GoPro but at sub $200 (and the Osmo is now $280 as low as I can find). I'm not Vloggin so I dont really care about the out of focus items up close, so this is a clear winner for me.

This max pro has a wider field of view vs the others which is nice and really good sounding audio. The focus issue could be because of an early unit sent to you as you mentioned. I was shocked at the 720 and 1080 looked good too. This is a review !

XTU PRO blows the others away with audio and video quality. However the XTU S3 audio and video was great as well. The things you mentioned Andre, i agree with 100%. Very nice comparison and video. 👍

As in many of my past videos, I mention that most budget action cameras batteries last an hour give or take.
I'm glad that you included Victure AC940 in your review. Well I don't know if it's just me, maybe something is wrong with my eyes and ears or if I'm color blinded or not but I do not see much difference between the video quality, sound quality, EIS...of the Victure AC940 compare to the others. Well to some maybe it is, but the price differences is too much $70 for a Victure AC940 and XTU Max Pro/Akaso Brave 7/ Brave 8... all well over $100 a piece .

The colors seem pretty warm. The audio sounds pretty good.
Yes in some scenarios it is warm in others it's a bit on the cooler side, but overall good video quality from that Ambarella H22 chip. Audio was very good for an action camera. Thanks for watching !
Actually prefer the S3 overall, I do like the super view with one exception, the artifact of the bending of the vertical objects around the edges, but great wide view. Have a great Christmas!

Need something that can stream, yet have the ability to be used in a work shop. Like the more rugged action cams. Can the XTU stream? Thanks in advance. Like your videos.
I am only watching on a phone today but so far the max pro is looking like it is getting close to Osmo image quality minus the terrible 1080p and the focus issue. Excellent in-body mic!👍🏻 I think there is potential there but I agree that it will come down to price. If they can just get the image, audio, durability and stabilization nailed down at a competitive price it might be “Worth It”😀
Be sure you're watching at the highest resolution on your phone via UA-cam as my phone will sometimes default to 480p when watching UA-cam videos. The 1080 is actually really nice and you have to consider I upscaled all the 1080 clips to 4K. @@WORTHITORNOT Oh that’s right. I leave the UA-cam phone app on auto and sometimes it defaults to 360p-480p depending on bandwidth. It did mush a little bit during the 1080p segment but like you say, that was upscaled and if you rendered out below 45-60mbps it would do that with the UA-cam compression. I’ve had that happen. I can render 4K at 25mbps with nearly no issues but mixing 1080p sometimes looks a little mushy on a lower resolution screen 📺
I recently found your videos since I am currently looking for an action camera. I want to say your videos are awesome. Great reviews, specs, comparisons, etc. Just what I needed. Thanks for these and keep up the good work. I have it narrowed down to the Akaso V50Pro, this XTU Max Pro for a cheaper camera. Or I might just pull the plug on the Osmo Action 3. Any recommendations on the 2 budget cameras I mentioned ?

I've tried and returned 2 Akaso's already now. They weren't actually what I was expecting, and I think even for the price still expensive.
This camera looks actually verry nice. I see they use the same somewhat the same case as the Brave 7LE. Unfortunatelly this XTU seems not be available here in Europe. You'll only find brands like Akaso, Lamax, Wolfang and Apeman here, besides the way overprised GoPro's etc...
I'm thinking going to try the SJCAM SJ10 pro instead. It's still available under €200 here.
But would have liked to give this camera a try too, although prices on the official XTU website seems to be around $180 too?

Hello there, I have been watching your videos lately and so far you're the best doing comparison videos, I was interested on purchasing the XTU S3 then while looking for that camera come across with XTU MAX PRO, which I think for what I want them both of them fits pretty well, now while I was watching the camera review on the Amazon ad, I noticed the camera (max pro) makes sounds while starting and while selecting the menu, my question is can you get rid of the sounds and make the camera completely silent??
Yes, you can turn off both sounds.

Since you've been using/reviewing this camera, would you recommend this or the Osmo Action Gen 1? I saw your link for it with a spare battery for $249 and am torn which way to go. Thanks for any advice.
Hey Trey, Honestly, get the Osmo Action and be done, more features, better image, better stabilization and audio. It's really the best price vs performance out there before the remainder of the stock is gone, so get it while you still can IMO. Hope this helps
Thanks for all the good videos! I personally like the way the victure 960 looks. I like the narrower/less wide angles as I will be using for kayaking and really wide makes waves look tiny. Any input on a good camera for 1080p 60fps? I know a lot of them look a lot worse at 1080 and I can't afford a good 4k 60fps camera :(

@@WORTHITORNOT Would like to stay close to $100 but if around $150 gets a decent step up in video quality I'd probably go for that.
@@WORTHITORNOT Dynamic range, shadow detail, not blowing out highlights and transitions are the most important to me. Color rendering can be touched up far easier in editing. Wish the akaso 6 plus was still available as that seemed to do really well for it's price though the colors aren't perfect. Kayaking rivers you can't control where sun and shade are haha

What port does that external microphone plug into on this Max Pro camera ? The Micro HDMI or the USB port ? My camera I just received was missing this external mic.. :(
It goes into the micro usb port.

I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT THIS CAMERA I HOPE YOU CAN ANSWER. IS THERE A WAY TO JUST PAUSE A VIDEO RECORDING INSTEAD OF STOP ? EVERYTIME I HIT STOP. IT ENDS THE VIDEO AND WHEN I START AGAIN, ITS A WHOLE NEW VIDEO AND FILE. I WOULD HATE TO HAVE EDIT A BUNCH OF VIDEOS TO JUST MAKE 1 VIDEO.

Hi. I purchased my XTU Max Pro based on your review which was very informative Couple of questions. I am using it as a dashcam at the moment. Why does it only record 6 minutes at a time. A 25 minute drive gave me 4 seperate videos. Also, with the dashcam. I tried a number of ways regarding sound. Windows and A/C off, Windows and A/C on....When I am at a stop light (standing still) I can hear the radio with no problem, but when i start moving again it gets distorted, like it is windy but windows closed and A/C off. Any ideas?
Hi Robert, regarding the 6 minute record time I’ll have to investigate that when I get home and report back. As far as a dash cam the noise you hear “might” be coming from the outside wind hitting your windshield and the cameras microphone is picking it up since it’s so close to the windshield.
@@WORTHITORNOT Thanks for the quick reply. I never thought of the wind hitting the windshield scenario. That's a problem though. Not something I want to hear during playback.
@@WORTHITORNOT Well, I found "Video Editor", which is free with Windows. It can stitch together my 6 minute videos pretty seamlessly, so that problem is solved for now. Now I just need to find out what is going on with the wind type noise on playback when the car is in motion.

Definitely a used DJI Osmo Action. With that said, DJI is rumored to release the Osmo Action 3 this month with the same body style as the original Osmo Action.
