Hi Gals and Guys, this tutorial will show you how to get started recording with the awesome Hotone Ampero II Stomp; Capturing guitar DI tracks; And Re-Amping as well. Enjoy and have an amazing day!!!
Great tutorial! Is there a difference in terms of recording quality when you record directly through the Ampero Stomp 2 vs Ampero going to Focusrite 2i2 then to my DAW? What are the advantage and disadvantage? I am using Reaper as my DAW. My problem when I use the Ampero, the output is the same so I couldn’t hear the drums in my PC. I couldn’t change the output in Preference in Reaper. Any help is gratefully appreciated.
Hi. Thanks a lot for the video. I'm not a novice in guitar gear, but for some reason I just can't understand the routing logic of Ampero 2. All these USB OUT 12 34 etc... Really confusing. It would be great if you make an in depth routing capabilities video, it will help a lot. Thanks
Great video, Jay.. Thanks for takin the time and doin such a great job!!!.. Would be cool to hear both of the tracks at the same time with each tone panned a little or with a stereo panner. Thanks again, Jay.
Hi Jay, appreciate all your great info on the Stomp2. Your rock presets sound awesome. Could you do a video on how you dialin, as i cant get as good a sound as yours.. Maybe I`m missing some secret sauce
Thanks Mark! Thats very kind of you and I'm glad you like the tones 😊 🙏 I really appreciate it. No special secret my friend - they are the exact same tones I use. Only difference ifs fingers 😊 🙏 Have an awesome day!
Thanks Jay for your super review and help for configure new Ampero II. I have also meloaudio midi controller, that i buyed after your review with Ampero, and please can you Made review with intergration with Ampero II?
Hey Claudio, excellent that you got the unit! And glad you're enjoying it 😊 Ah cool about the Meloaudio - I don't have any more Ampero videos planned for the time being my friend 🙏 Best thing to do is check out the CC instructions for the midi controller and then set them to the same parameters for the Ampero. I recall that I had to do a good amount of head scratching as I'm not great with midi! lol! The tech guys ate Hotone are also really on the ball with midi so they will be able to guide you through it 😊 Enjoy and have an awesome day!
Great vid mate. I want to purchase the Ampero II and wanted to check if you can do dry/wet recording. You can also send the dry/di to a VST Amp modeler like ToneX....
Thtat's the tutorial i need! But damn, in my ampero ii the output 7 doesn't output the DI, actually, there's nothing coming out of it... did you configure anything before connecting to the daw?
Hey dude, I don't remember to be honest. It was a while back since I used it in this way. I probably did configure it within the Ampero II Editor software to make sure that the DI output was assigned to the correct output. Have a great day.
Thanks for this Jay! Been wanting to capture the DI as well. One thing I noticed is that the waveform of the DI is really small when captured from AP Ampero2 even when I turn up the level. Has this created any issues for you if you try to apply an amp sim to it later?
Hey Todd, yes the waveform looks small on mine too but it hasn't caused any issues. The signal is still strong so playback and reamping worked just fine 😊 Have an awesome day!
Hey Neil, thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Yes same works with the Stage. The hardware is the same between stomp and stage - with the stomp 4.0 firmware, it makes the stomp into a mini stage now so all the functionality is pretty much the same between both. Hope that helps. Have an awesome day!
Hi. Another great video. Congrats! I'm trying to reamp Ampero 2 with Reaper. I can record the dry signal (in 7) but I want to reamp in other track and I don't have results. I select on Ampero II USB out 3/4 in channel A but I lost in reamp track config!
Hi mate, how’s going? How do you configure your Ampero Stomp in your DAW when recording? I’ve been getting a lot of problems recently! When I listen back to what I just recorded it sounds thin and less quality. - How many dBs do you set up at the REC Levels? - How do you set the Output Source and FX Source? Normal or USB Only? - Do you turn off monitoring from DAW?
Hey dude, in all honesty I just plug it in and leave the settings as default and it works - I'm using a Mac Studio M1. I use monitoring in my DAW (Logic) and it works fine like that. I set my buffer size to 128 samples and that give me near enough zero detectable latency in the signal. I think audio comes into inputs 1 and 2 and the DI signal on channels 5 and 6 or something like that. I can't recall. Details will be in the manual. Hope that helps a little. Have an awesome day!
Good Q about it. I don't know to be honest. It would probably have something to do with the output routing - it might be an idea to drop the tech support guys at Hotone a line about it as they will likely be able to help solve the issue 😊 Have an awesome day!
Hi Jay, great Videos...i like it...can you help me? i want to record with Reaper with the Ampero II Stage...he found the Ampero but he shows me no Inputs and Outputs ?? i`ve already use the ASIO driver....but no Ins and Outs....the Ampero Yes.... i don`t know....thank you for your help. kind regards from Germany...Kim
Hey dude, I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with connecting the unit. I am not familiar with the routing in Reaper or PCs (Logic and Mac guy here). I would recommend that you message the support team at Hotone as they are really helpful. Hope that helps! Have an awesome day!
Hey dude, I have no idea as I work on Mac 🙏 Probably best thing to do is check out the manual from the Hotone website as there might be info in there about the sample rates/ASIO. Have a great day!
Hi Jay, hope you are well. Thanks for the Demo Vid. Quick question. Specific to reamping, if you have an effect in the fx loop would that be recorded in to the re amped sound as well?
Hey Don, you're welcome. Thats a great Q - yes, the full chain which is going through the Ampero is recorded - so if you had a pedal set up in the loop, then it will act like any other effect and print to the track when recording. Hope that helps 😊 Have an awesome day!
So if I want to make small changes to my wet track from ampero I have reamp it all over again? I can't just make small tweaks on the fly and click render just like with plugins?
Hey dude, yes you're correct - as it is a hardware unit, the signal has to go out of the DAW, into the ampero and then back into the DAW - you can monitor the tone though and make changes before printing it to a track. Hope that helps. Have a great day.
Silly question can a tascam dp32sd porta studio be linked to a pc daw and have the stomp II linked in for recording (I'll be going through a laney SLS 300w and aliesis quadraverb in the full set up, this will be my fixed recording setup) bought a pc and looking for a DAW for this set up
Hey David, Q for you - what would the Portastudio be used for? A DAW is basically the same as a Portastudio, just a software version so wanted to check with you first 😊 Easiest solution would be to go straight into the Ampero and then into your DAW. Have a great day!
@@jayguitar hi Jay my porta studio is basically for recording but not sure if I'm missing out not having a draw version for recording not linked in to pc Tec yet lol
@@davidmurray9193 Ah cool! Ok, so the DAW software will basically replace the Portastudio - you won't need that as the recording will happen straight onto your computer 😊
Hey dude, I will have very soon. I was working on that just yesterday! it will be out in a few weeks and is based on my personal tube amp collection. Stay tuned 😊 have an awesome day!
Hey dude, just a quick one to let you know my Ampero store is up and running now! The guys at Hotone shared it on Facebook today - here is the direct link - ampero-ii-amps-by-jay-parmar.creator-spring.com/ - a video of all of the tones will be out in August. Enjoy!
Hey dude, unfortunately not (unless they have updated the original Ampero software to add that function). Its just available on the Stomp II. Have an awesome day.
Hey dude, honestly don't know the answer to that Q. Message the support team at Hotone. They are really helpful and will be able to answer that for you. Have an awesome day!
HI Jay I followed your tutorial but I get no sound out of the headphone jack on the Ampero I can see in Logic it is sending it somewhere. I looked in the manual for the ampero and it suggest a different method but Logic won't allow the assigns that are shown in th manual.
Hey Ralph, ah! I am having a couple of issues with Logic and the Ampero right now also - but I think my issues are due to a control surface that I added. Anyways, the things to check are open up the audio settings and make sure that the output device is set to Ampero II. If this is set correctly, then Logic audio should go to the Ampero outputs and headphone jack. If the output device in Logic is set to the Ampero but audio from Logic is not coming out of the Ampero output and headphone jack, then there might be another issue which I’m not aware of. Best thing to do would be to message the Hotone tech team and ask them as well. They are really helpful and may have some more insights. Hope that helps! Have an amazing day!
The wave form is really not the best visual meter to follow. Db counter should be a better way. About the sound we get in the video, the audio probably been normalized.
I connected 2 mono Jack to the balanced outputs of the Ampero and a stereo Jack to the mic/line input of the Audient ID14 MKII interface and although it sends a signal I can't hear anything through the monitors, what could be due to it, I would appreciate the help, regards and rock'n'roll

Wow!!! ReAmping with Ampero 2 Stomp is piece of cake!!! Great job Jay and thanks for the presentation!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it William. Yes very easy to do once set up! Great to be able to do it internally from one unit as well! Have an awesome day!
