I almost sure that Maestro Michael "Mike" Spiro was a student of the GREAT Afro Cuban percussionist, Maestro de los Maestros Francisco Aquabella. No wonder he is solo is so AWESOME . He plays with such surety, like he has nothing to prove and then does something sooo technical that it lays to rest all questions about his mastery of the instrument. Amazing.

Wow, what a solo by michael spiro on congas, TREMENDO MANANA ASERE. The chops are there but it's the phrasing and the incredibly crisp technique that puts it on another level. Poetry w/ the drum. Inspiration to all non-latino congueros out there; anyone can gain the same level of swing as a Cuban drummer, so long as they have the soul and the dedication.
