Pastor Iren is right. However the idea that adminstrative good works done by the church should be hidden is where we are missing it. On an individual level (just like private prayers) your giving should be confidential but on a cooperate level(denomination for accountability sake to the children of God) the good works done by the church should not be hidden. If there is free hospital we should all know and fund it more to make it better. If there are free schools by church it should be open for all to know and also be funded more by his children. Nothing should be hidden. Purpose of the church is soul winning not church membership, there were strategies the early missionary used when they went to preach the gospel to nations. They used the power of God, also free medicals, free education, free borehole(manpower water pumps) to penetrate the local communities of those poor nations and this brought people close to God through those projects. In essense its okay to let the people know what community service the churches are doing. I don't believe offering n donations given to church is church money its God's money donated by his children, who are not in error to know the progress made by the church to do God's work. People don't give to church as donations with the sole expectation to distribute to the poor or needy. Orphanage and other charity organisations do that. What happened in the book of acts can still happen today. No accountability today, anybody with power, money and influence can just say what they like. As an Athiest and a critic of religion in general and Christianity in particular (given that I had been one for the first 40 years of my life), I can boldly say that what this Pastor Chris wannabe is saying can only be appealing and sensible to the already indoctrinated AKA belivers.
We know that charity is a multi-billion dollar business globally. Its not difficult to figure out that most churches that pride themselves in caring for the needy actuality receive way more monies in donations from so-called partners and members for that purpose but often spend way lesser on the needy than they received. In fact, the needy are actuality more of an asset than they are a liability to the church.
