Frankie playing the familiar 3-2-1-1 formation. The Lads providing the tight, solid, reliable foundation on which to launch their massive attack on an unsuspecting public: Ped's impeccable timing, Nasher's guitar licks and Mark O'Tool's phenomenal bass; the Leatherpettes playing the holding role in the centre with additional whips, chains and handcuffs; Paul Rutherford playing in the hole (oo'er, missus) allowing Holly Johnson to spearhead the Frankie attack.
Never heard of the Hope & Anchor pub in Coventry only the Famous one in London but would to see the full thing it's old stuff like this that is special
Solid bass playing... too bad it got lost in the production later... So sad that Holly had to cover up as soon as they hit it big. Lol This is my favorite video ever.be yourself
jeeeez, Holly, mark and the bassist, moving like that, dressed like that, good gyad how bangalicious. 10 minutes of them dancing in those outfits and they would have had to take me out of there in cuffs....or let me on that stage, one or the other..lmao
I'm not a homophobe by any means. I myself am bisexual and mean this as a compliment. This is legit the gayest underground club performance I have ever seen. This looks awesome! We don't see places like this anymore.
This was used on Bands Reunited when Holly Johnson refused to perform. This probably would have been used for then and now comparisons of each band member. They were performing the song before the album was even released.
Just shows that they had the talent before horn. Yes he put the tweeks in and the management team printed the hell out of them , outcome was they got milked , burnt them out and discarded. Shame , they had a funky soul edge before.
@@ednasdiscomachine6049 There was no Synclavier on the first album, (although there was also PPG and Waveterm) And most of "Relax" was Roland Jupiter 8
I doubt you'd have ever heard of them if it wasn't for Trevor, his production is what made them. Without him they'd have remained a drag act playing infront of 30 people in a underground gay club. A place they never frequented again once they'd had thier first hit
So let's imagine be it male or female, you're marginally attractive you like to write, one sings, the others can beat out damn good melody: let's HIT the town, what you say?
That's how I remember H and P, in particularly H J with three of my leading fetishes all on one slender body that matched very much my own build back in the 80s. Wow, HOT STUFF then and still.
Could be. Holly wasn't diagnosed until the 90s..but he had close friends who died of Aids in the 80s. And since Holly wrote the lyrics..it's possible that it is about Aids.
I'm wearing the same outfit to the office today.
Gayest office? ))
😂
😲
Brutal versión ! Great bass sound ,super Gay performance

Shame this version still isn't on CD...
Fantastic. Couldn't stop dancing. Miss this real music
Solid bass playing... too bad it got lost in the production later...
My favourite version of Relax....raw and edgy!!!!
Very club sounding!!
That guitar, bass was thumping too
I've never heard this version. I love it!

Had this version of the video stuck in my head for years since I saw it on one of those VH1 Bands Reunited shows.
a great songs a great song, demo or master...both have merit in my opinion!love em both!

The venue still exists in London, it's still a great grassroots pub venue tbh
This is the best non offending homophobic comment I've seen this year lol
@@vinnygillies Why thank you good sir lol
It's even more gay than the first Predator movie. It's like "none more gay".
This is how the bin men should do their rounds at 6 in the morning.

This version is the shit!! Love it
there are some parts that would benefit the album version greatly
Just shows that they had the talent before horn.

Showing Sam Smith how it's done.
Lol 😂 I love how the lads look so camp here 😂 especially Holly and Paul.
holy johnson... this is hard...
On russian it's:jiest
wow EPIC love it
I love the pre-Trevor version of their sound here. I sounds more funky! I love Trevor Horn though, don't get me wrong, he saw the talent in this band.
yep. this version is dangerously awesome
Some similarities with Adamski's Everything is Fine.
raw. slap. funk. just perfect. I mean I dig my CMI Fairlight Pads, PPG Bass drenched in 480Ls but this is killer.
More Synclavier than Fairlight!
Edna's Disco Machine I sit corrected!!

Nice 🙂
Rob Halford thought that Judas Priest should dress like this but they thought it was too subtle.
Brave ¡¡¡
I want to dress like this when I play live. I want to dress like this all the time (except naked time).
Try wearing a leather speedo infont of a million people..
You got yours and I got mine 🙌🏾
It's an excerpt from a David Lynch song.
Has a Bowie “Fame” vibe

Gosh. Interesting but definitely not the finished article
trevor where are you?
Thank God they met Trevor horn!!
This is my favorite version of Relax, funky and simple. Not the overproduced Trevor Horn result.

O My God😁 what this is?
Your secret leder-fantasy reproduced in top quality VHS playback...
This version sounds like it needs a guest verse by Jaz Coleman.
No wonder so many die young x
Surprising ? If tritherapy had been found out in 1978, none would have, then.

is this song about aids..he say I dont want to die..relax dont do it.. etc, even the released version seemed like it..
Could be. Holly wasn't diagnosed until the 90s..but he had close friends who died of Aids in the 80s. And since Holly wrote the lyrics..it's possible that it is about Aids.
Nope this was nearly 2 years before aids was even known
@@graham2sexy955 you got it backwards buddy, aids was described in 1981, this version was late 1982. Stop making up stuff if you dont know.
