@@DnD_Daily I have noticed a lack of love on UA-cam for the wildmagic sorcerer. Can you show off my favorite build that I call the magic handgrenade? It is Evocation Wizard 2 and Wildmagic Sorcerer X. You focus on trying to trigger wildmagic with your amazing spells and WANT fireball on yourself since it will only ever hurt enemies.
(Even better if / when you get a feywild shard as I have never seen a dm deprive a wildmagic sorcerer this item)

Can I just say, that I made a long tooth beast barbarian for a game I’m playing, and I’ve been feeling bad about it because a friend also made a shifter barbarian and I’ve been comparing myself to them, and they went with the Wildhunt shifter, and everyone says Wildhunts the best. This is litterly my 1st character ever: Beast/Echo that focused only claws. I capped out at 7 attacks on my nova round before the campaign ended I think. The kicker was that my guy Terrorclaw was a gnome, ended up bringing the meme with my 1st guy. The damage was pretty good with clone and rage active: attack x2, unleash incarnation echo attack, action surge, do my attack and incarnation again, then bonus action claw... then you have your infectious furies. Damage adds up fast.

I've had an idea for a dwarven or maybe duergar were-mole type character, that uses the claw attacks, gloomstalker ranger, and the blind fighting FS, and also shadow monk. Would be a really cool flavor build for a "blind" character, teleporting in the dark while being invisible, and then leaping onto enemies like a Hunter from Left 4 Dead and just mauling them with big mole claws.

I've found Barbarian 5/Rogue X goes amazingly together in an "Apex predator" build.
Expertise in stealth and athletics, absolutely dominate in grapple/knock down and then just tear the opponent apart while it fails to break the grapple and is denied advantage thanks to wildhunt. Each turn you're hitting for crazy amounts of damage with sneak attack, and then stacking on the hits with your claws (And rapier to deliver said sneak attack). Dip into Scout and you get Nature and Survival, with expertise, free, meaning you can track down and hunt your prey with even greater skill.
Being at the top of the food chain doesn't just mean that you're the strongest, but that you're the most capable to adapting, excelling at overcoming any challenge, and rogue's skills and expertise is perfect for that, then of course, rolling all those beautiful dice just feels good.

  • @DMTip
    @DMTip 11 місяців тому +2

I love the concept. Super thematic and pretty strong. Best of all, it just *feels* good to play. Well done!
I've always wanted to make a Wildhunt Shifter Barbarian with the Athlete Feat that drops prone at the end of each round. All ranged attacks have DisAdv, and Melee attacks Can't have Adv because of the Wildhunt Shift. You could flavor it as a barbarian break dancer or that you are so savage and reckless you are rolling around the battlefield and just being all around crazy. Before you attack on your next turn, stand up with 5ft of movement, reckless attack again, and then drop prone. I'm not entirely certain if Wildhunt shifting and prone would cause a Ranged attack to be at DisADV, but its a tool you could use without Reckless if you wanted to cancel out Adv from a ranged attack from a distance beyond 30ft.

Take rest levels in wizard (conjunction). Taking band of int. Eldritch claw tat. Spell guard shield/polly wand.
Taking rope trick plus summon fey (pixi) and polly.
Sit inside rope trick sending pixis out to polly into gaint apes. Once the Dm has dealt with all the apes (190ish hp each). A raged wild shaped bear springs from the rope trick with a hp total of about 1500hp (using both wild shapes). Dealing base bear damage and ba from shift + 1d6.

This may not entirely follow the prompt, depending on whether or not the "Shifter" part of the prompt refers specifically to the Shifter lineage or simply that it must include shapeshifting of some kind, but another lineage that fits well with Beast Barbarian is the Dhampir. Between the bite and the spider climb that Dhampirs get baseline, you effectively get to double-dip on subclass features by going Beast Barbarian, since you can get both a claw and a bite and you are free to choose something other than climbing for the Bestial Soul feature.
Though, as a caveat, the Dhampir bite doesn't synergize fully with Barbarian, because you can't recklessly attack or get your rage bonus damage with it due to it using Constitution instead of Strength. That being said, the Dhampir's bite does get advantage when at low health, and can be used to either heal or boost an ability check or attack roll.
It also works thematically, since bestial shapeshifting is incredibly common in vampire lore.
And if you have the Wisdom for it, a dip into Gloomstalker Ranger really lets you double down on the vampire as ambush predator motif.

@@zeestar0112 The specific wording of the Dhampir bite is "You add your Constitution modifier, instead of your Strength modifier, to the attack and damage rolls when you attack with this bite" so RAW that ability can only be used with Constitution (except for Monks, who can use Dexterity because the bite attack qualifies as a Monk weapon RAW due to it counting as a simple melee weapon without the two-handed or heavy property). I honestly don't think that allowing Strength or Constitution would have been game-breaking, but that's how it is.

I did a straight Beast Barb 1-20 build with a Beast Hide Shifter, using the duel wielding style and two-weapon fighting feat to gain a bonus action claw attack (technically legal), because I wanted to use the increased defensive from going Beast Hide (Aisha Clan Clan, of the Ctarl-Ctarl Empire). I would not do that now due to Bonus Action glut versus short combats. Effectively, by the time she was able to make a bonus action attack, the fight would be over. Not sure if going Long Tooth would resolve that, which makes Wild Hunt the best option as it negates the penalty for Reckless attacks.

Kai Urson of the Urson clan is a Wildhunt Shifter Beast Barbarian, infected by the spirit of ancient Raptor Spirit. His favored rage is the tail form and he has a Bloodfury Tattoo as well (nerfed but levels up with me). He is a bully support tank with no negative modifiers. I'm gonna multiclass rogue soul blades and get expertise in athletics for more disruption. Flavoring the sneak attacks as last second flourishes that somehow get around the armor.
DM also said I could add finesse to my tail form after some training so my weapon options open up quite a bit.

I literally built this same character a few weeks ago! I haven’t planned out which feats he would take over the course of his progression, though; apart from skill expert for athletics, what would you recommend? The weakness of this character would be magic (no resistance), so, perhaps mage slayer? There will likely be a wildfire Druid in the party who can teleport me beyond the screen and into the back line to take out any squishy casters. My DM is allowing me to shift and rage as part of the same action (a godsend). The idea is that my shifter powers are a secret from my party and I’m not allowed to use them until level three when I gain my beast subclass; shifting at that point will seem like it’s a part of my class rather than a terrible curse I’ve kept from them:)

I especially love your challenge/themed builds. I don’t know if you do builds from comments on UA-cam, but if you do, I was wondering if you could do a spell shield build. It’s a build style that is rarely seen, since most arcane tanks rely on spells only, rather than using a shield as well as tank spells, for stuff like temp hp and focusing enemies on you.

Should keep in mind that absent a magic item like insignia of claws, your shifting bite attack might not be effective against enemies with resistance or immunity to B/P/S damage from non-magical weapons. Beast barbarian's magical attacks only applies to the one you get from rage, so if you intend to use the claws then your shifter BA bite attack will be non-magical, if you take the fang rage it should work ok, but you will be back to only having 3 attacks which a shifter could do with almost any martial class.
Points for a fighter multiclass is with the unarmed fighting style you could deal a little more damage to creatures you are grappling, and the shifter bite unarmed strike could possibly* be boosted from 1d6 to 1d8 [while using claws or tail transformation or outside of rage] * -possibly because the fighting style specifies its bludgeoning damage, while shifter fangs specify piercing damage, so they could be argued to be mutually exclusive.

A beast barbarian I really like is the Dhampir beast barbarian.
Like the shifter, there is some solid synergy.
The beast barb has a few powers that scale off your con, like the Dhampir bite does. I don’t know for sure whether it overlaps with the beast bite like some sort of constitutional finesse, but if it does then that is fantastic. As the beast barbarian hits level six, you can choose between being able to breathe underwater, gaining a climbing speed, or gaining a ridiculously powerful jump. As a Dhampir, you do not need to breathe at all, and by level three you can walk hands free on walls and ceilings, so by picking up the super jump you have essentially gained every power in that feature simultaneously. Obviously high constitution is great on a barbarian, particularly with a con based attack. If you want to have high strength you can be a grappler and, with two free grappling hands lock down multiple enemies and either impale them with your stabby tail or just eat them for more power.
Alternatively you can leave your strength as your third best stat and focus on dex to get your ac unusually high, combined with the tail potentially causing a 27 attack to miss. Because you have a con attack you can still consistently land attacks, and between being able to leap thirty feet and being able to stick to walls most enemies will have trouble getting away from you whether you are grappling or not.
Of course picking up expertise in athletics will make grapples and jump checks absurd when you rage, as even a slightly above average strength score with expertise and advantage is not going to lose often. At level six with 14 strength the average grapple or jump check comes out to 23.
There is plenty of synergy there and I like that the Dhampir makes you less like a primal beast man and more like a horror monster man.

Oooh interesting, thanks for the correction, much appreciated. On a related note, does the feat savage attacker function with natural weapons?@@brett6221

I am very new to Dnd and right now I am running a Goliath Barbarian with The Path of The Beast, does anyone have any tips for me in terms of combat, movement, actions, etc?

Where is the fourth attack coming from? Barbarians get 2 attacks, Form of the Beast gets you an extra Claw attack, what is the 4th attack?

To dual your claws .. don't you need dual welding? Since your claws only count as simple weapons. Not light weapons

The build doesn’t require two weapon fighting, that was never mentioned in the video. The 3rd attack is apart of the attack action from claws, and the BA attack is a racial ability, not from dual wielding.

Can you use sneak attack on the claws of beast Barb? 🤔

Unfortunately RAW no, because the claws do not have the finesse property. Though, a DM might make an exception

What I see is a character that has tons of uses for its bonus action.
    Maybe too many.

First turn rage, 2nd turn shift and bite, every turn after that’s just another bite. How is that too many BA options?

4:10 but wait, you would bite in the third round not in the second: you cannot bite since shifting itself is a bonus action, right? I suffer this actions economy

You can bite as a part of the bonus action that it takes to shift 👍

Shifter in D&D, Wolfkin in Dragonbane. Great to play, "Ripn'tearing furries everyday" As my d.m said, you DONT call werebeasts/ beastfolk, furries. Sure they both have fur but the former is badass in everyway. The latter is expendable unhinged fetish prey😂 Oh and dont call mallards featheries. You think a certain Donald duck is dangerous in angrymode? Mallards will quack you a new one or ten!

Your hands have to be empty for claw attacks. Or at least the one you're attacking with needs to be empty.

The very unfortunate thing about most barbarians is you're basically always better off going fighter after at most 8th level barb. Most of the 10+ features on Barb just aren't as worth it as almost anything levels 1-12 on fighter. Sure having 24 con and str is nice, but that's level 20... almost everything else before this is at most just ok and at worst just worthless.
