Getter's Island sits just North of rt.22 when crossing the toll bridge from NJ to Pennsylvania. This little nondescript plot of 5.8 acres, has a macabre story behind it that tells about the man, Charles Getter, and how the island infamously took his name.
Special thanks to the Easton Public Library and the Sigal Museum in Easton, PA.

Nicely done Jeremy. I like little history/informative snippets like this.

Great little video! I just have a question- wouldn’t have Margaret’s body been found somewhere around Weis or the Weis parking lot since that’s where Greenwood Ave intersects William Penn Hwy?

Thanks! Good eye! When I made this I had thought the same thing but now my recollection is a little hazy on the details. It may have been that the simply drawn map in the video is not as accurate as a map from the 21st century would have been. Greenwood may have been the only road and was drawn in the map as a point of reference. Distance on that map is not accurate. That’s what I recall anyway. The rope at the Sigal Museum is also mislabeled as hanging occurring on September 4th, but it actually happened on October 4th.

I've always wondered why Garlicfest hasn't incorporated this historic event somehow. It's so close on the calendar and should draw more of the macabre who so love a fall garlic festival. I served as a lowly serf on the committee for several years and there was no interest at that time. Maybe your video will change some minds. Congratulations. @@JeremyBrandt2

@@lorrhalei Thanks! I've thought about how it could be incorporated into an Easton ghost story tour. Not much else you could do with the island as it's prone to flooding.
