He was so incredible during that short run in 2019. It seemed like he was hitting everything out of the park. I thought he was gonna be one of the best players in the league to come, but it sadly never happened.
It's a real shame. Dude has some pop, and some flair, but like Chris Davis and Joey Gallo they are one trick ponies, just get worse and worse, then can't do anything.

Couple corrections, Castellanos was basically the day one Right fielder when he got here, so Aquinio didn't lose time because he played mostly Left field. And second he wasn't included on the 2020 opening day roster and was relegated to the backup team (idk what else to call it, 2020 was weird)
Let's go Mets. During the off season he was rumored as a trade to the Mets. I think he will be great once again. His rookie season no but I think he can come close.
As a Reds fan, I have seen enough of him to know that the crazy month he had, even though it was quite memorable, was not a true tale in the slightest. He has definitely been on the struggle bus non-stop since then. Nevertheless, even though they had a losing season, 2019 was one heck of a time to be a Reds fan
Your monster month series has always been my favorite! Pretty much all of them are flashes in the pan. It’s crazy seeing some guys who aren’t highly touted turn into Babe Ruth. Always exciting.
He’s a statcast demon, explosive bat and arm and moves really well for someone so big. I hope he learns to hit a breaking ball because if he does he has top 50 tools
He is one of the bright spots of being a reds fan this year. He has struck out a lot…but so has everyone else on the team. He at least will hit a massive home run every few games…yeah the level of energy in the fanbase isn’t great right now :(
worse take i’ve seen about the reds in a while. he’s so bad it’s honestly unbelievable. he’s such a liability at the plate and has an unsalvageable career at this point.
@@ppete4985at least I’ll know he’ll hit a home run once every like 5 games. This is my first full year following baseball and it’s sad the reds really got rid of so many fun players and have so many injured guys
I was at the three homer game against the cubs (as a cubs fan) and I couldn’t believe it. Every time he went up it just felt like he was gonna hit a homer. And they were BOMBS too.
you can tell it's going to take many of hundreds of MLB quality curves and slider at bats before his offensive game slows down for him so it starts to click in ,,, look at Taylor Ward on the Angels dude didn't break out until this year at age 28
What a bummer, that magical month was exciting. I also saw him throw a couple of base runners out from the outfield so I thought for a minute that we had a real superstar developing before our very eyes....
This guy had one of the most exciting first month’s for any rookie ever. If things continue the way they are going for him, I won’t be able to think of a more stark flash in the pan.
Aquino has been horrible so far this year. 2 for 38 (.053) with one homer and 21 strikeouts. That means he strikes out more than half the time. Pitchers know he can't hit breaking balls so that's basically all he gets. The only reason the Reds haven't cut him is because there's no one in the minors who's ready for the big leagues. This is a very weak team.
i got to watch him play for a few years while he was in Daytona and always thought he stood out amongst the other players down there in single A. it was cool to see him have success, albeit short lived, at the major league level.
Have you done a video on the collapse of Brandon Finnegan? Dude was a bright and rising star and hasn’t seen the majors in around 4 years but is still just 28
He was a real life Pedro Cerrano from the movie Major League. Could hit the fastball a mile, but couldn't hit the offspeed pitches. Pitchers adjusted and he never could.
Watched this dude in Billings. He was a decent hitter but was so lanky. When he came up with the Reds I had to make sure he was the same guy because he looked so different
Theirs some players that I haven’t heard and seen anymore like Asdrubal Cabrera like bro he was traded to the reds and like disappeared it’s like he’s a ghost now
He's tall and has an upright stance. Can't get to those pitches low in the zone, especially breaking balls. Pitchers figured that out his 2nd month in the league.
I still think about this guy every once in a while. Man, what a month he had.
I thought of him randomly during class today
if you're a reds fan you have to think about him pretty much every day still lmao
Can't believe they gave this guy Eric Davis' #44. Sacrilege.

Hes been figuring it out. Before IL the last 2 hrs he had the game before were off off speed. So hoping he can figure it out
Exactly. He reminds me of Cerrano from Major League. Can't hit a curve ball to save him.

Let’s set the record straight, I tweeted about Aquino 5 days ago. This town ain’t big enough for two Aquino UA-camrs. I will pursue legal action.
I really want to see him have a resurgence sometime this year because I do really like him. All I can do is hope though.

Thats the minute difference between a >$1 million minor/pinch hitter and a $50-100+ million slugger. Kind of crazy.
Ok Eddie, that's enough fastballs. Throw him some breaking balls
He’s literally Serrano from Major League.
I watched Aquino a ton at triple A Louisville and even there it seemed like he was either a homer or strike out at the plate.

The ball was traveling so much in 2019, this for sure helped aquino
And he just had a good game against Toronto, 2-4 with a 2-R double. Maybe he found a little something considering he was 2-49 this season before that
Followed up by 3 HRs in the next two games. Maybe he can still find it. At least he is a decent glove with a rocket arm
