Japan Airlines Flight 351, also known as the Japan Airlines hijacking, was a hijacking incident that occurred on March 31, 1970. The flight, which was flying from Tokyo to Fukuoka, was hijacked by nine members of the Japanese Red Army, a communist militant group. The hijackers demanded the release of political prisoners and a ransom of $6 million. After several days of negotiations, the hijackers released all of the passengers and crew unharmed and surrendered to authorities. The incident was one of the first acts of international terrorism committed by the Japanese Red Army and was seen as a significant security failure for Japan's law enforcement and aviation industries.
