@@SRFTRD do you, and the 2 geniuses above you, really think the Four Seasons put on this event to make money directly from it? i.e. ticket sales, broadcast contracts, sponsorships? You think that's the Four Seasons' newest business model, surf competitions?
@@elimonks I think it is their intent to advertise their resort and their wave so people like you who think they’re so nice for putting on such a great event come and spend 15k for a 10 day surf trip. I don’t think that any business is altruistic enough to put on a contest, comp a bunch of pros and their families rooms and dinners, and then feed, and house a production crew just for the good of the sport. I think that is painfully naive. It’s marketing. Do you think that the tourism board of Margaret River just sponsors a tour stop because they’re nice? Do you think that Lexus just sponsors the finals day because they want to see John John and Caity surf? I’ll give you the answer here, money (and the perceived return on investment) is the reason any business does anything.
I love the mixed equipment concept. FINALLY. Here are a couple more: 1 Make everyone ride the same board 2 Mixed doubles; bouys and gulls team up for some cut throat competition using all the rules to their advantage.
It’s not that deep. It’s more of a exhibition comp. They’re all sponsored and get to have an expensive stay and chill here in the Maldives. Carissa wouldn’t complain 😂
Mikey Feb is the only one riding a true twin fin fish. So much respect for that cat.
Wow this is a sick wave and a beautiful location. 👌
Who else thinks that this break should be on the WSL tour? 😉🤙
Beautiful, big, clean barrels for a surf contest? That's a rarity! 🎉
I love surf but surf contests shouldn't exist
Taj was always soo close to a title andi for one would have loved to have seen him do it. I'm not surprised to see him win this. Great comp🎉😊
A+ commentary. A++ surfing.
Stoked you liked it!
I love how February carves that clean line just outside the barrel- so cool, Moore makeds everythign look easy...
It's crazy how good surfing competitions can be when surfing is the priority and not profits
U realize this contest is put on by the four seasons hotel?
Are you kidding me, this is exactly à money contest😅
$2,000 US dollars a day for a surf guide at the Four Seasons. Yeah, not profits.

Taj is a master champagne popper. Frikin legend!
@3:30 - an off the top the way they used to be done - nice! (that should be required training)
February is one of the smoothest surfers out there.
So sick🤘✌️
Mikey in the grand final 🤯
And chose to stay on the twinny !
Taj, the greatest surfer to never win a world title.
Omg thats some of the kookiest single fin boards ever made.
Awesome shit here ✌️😎
Cheers! 👊
Best waves
Where's Bobby Martinez??seriously 😢
Would be sick!
playing tennis!
Now hold a comp where they only score for doing carving 360's backhand or forehand doesn't matter.
Woke WSL 🤮🤮🤮I would rather watch this one than watch that rubbish 😎🤘🌊🏄♂️🌊🏄♂️😎👌
a comp with just 5 guys and 1 girl... doesnt anyone else here find that weird at all? imagine being the girl... she'll never win ever
Was surprised that Carissa didn't get a time advantage. Taj has won the comp three times and he gets a head start!
