Yeah stray kids always add their own flavor to their song and they don’t rlly stick to a specific genre so they rlly have something for anyone. Love the reaction dude! Def going to be subscribing :D
The Korean title, "소리꾼" (soriggun; so-ree-goon), is not "thunderous" in Korean. 소리 is just sound/noise; 꾼 is an agency prefix basically indicating (in this case) someone who specializes in/is a master of something. So technically it translates as something like "noisemaker" or "soundmaster." However, a 소리꾼 is a specific role in traditional Korean entertainment called 판소리/pansori. They're loud, cadence-making, beat-accompanied storytellers who change rhythms to emphasize things. Honestly, I kind of think of them as traditional Korean rappers. I'm not kidding. The part in the first verse where the rapper whips out the fan and flares it for a moment? He's literally performing that bit in pansori/판소리 style, right down to the fan that's used to cue a beat switch. Anyway, they're proclaiming themselves to be the new iteration of traditional Korean noisemasters, blending old and new. Without knowing their history, it won't register with you, but basically they get massive amounts of hate and derision as being loud and making raucous "noise music" and not being Korean enough because their music is usually outside the mainstream preferences of Korean audiences, so this song is them continuing to lean into that and throwing a "and yet we're making that noise with the instruments and style of the very culture you say we conflict with" rebuttal in haters' faces.
Wow wow wow.. This was THE Comment I was searching for. Honestly, I was wondering whether I'm the only one who could hear Changbin's rap at the beginning in Pansori style. I was soooo impressed that they incorporated traditional Korean style of music with the more modern style with so much ease becz it's really not that easy. Thanks for the beautiful explanation R M. I have never stanned a kpop group before and SKZ boys are the only one. I knew they will go places the first time I heard them... From one STAY to another, THANK YOU once again 🙏🙏🙏
So this would be considered more of Stray Kids style they do all types of stuff though so I wouldn't reccomend putting them in a box. Also during the chorus they aren't saying sonic boom they are speaking korean, you can turn on English subtitles to see what they are saying and this goes for most kpop music videos even for different groups. Don't turn on subtitles if it says auto generated though, it will just be a bunch of random words. Idk if you have ever reacted to Kpop before but congrats if Stray Kids is your first. "Red lights" was a new territory Stray Kids haven't really done before. Stray Kid's music is on the more experimental side of Kpop meaning they use a lot of different sounds and effects, this mv in particular really showcases that very well.
Stray kids doesn't only do the writing but they have a producer and composers unit ( the leader and the two main rappers). All of their discography is self produced and self written ( with few exceptions where some members worked with other producers for works such as osts). Most people hate on their music and call it NOISY because they always experiment with their music and don't stick to typical pop sounds.
I've seen other comments about the meaning of "소리꾼 / Sorikkun" meaning the vocalist/the noise makers, and in this video they are calling themselves "the thunderous ones". It sounded like "sonic boom" to my English speaking ears too, and I thought that was fun because a sonic boom is literally the sound of thunder. Totally unconnected but it means I wont forget the meaning of 소리꾼 any time soon.
Short songs hit well with the younger generations. Easier to stay engaged if the whole song is a banger. 3racha knows how to produce songs 👌 Highly recommend god's menu by Stray Kids
Thank you for your reaction. They have english subtitles on the music videos. They are saying sorikun Korean word for Thunderous. Stray kids love to experiment with music. They can do all genres and sometimes various genres in one song. Love to seepre reactions of stray kids. Gods menu mv, sidr effects mv, Easy mv, all english of double knot mv and cheese mv. This latest 2nd album is called no easy play on words noisy for the haters that called the music noisy.
Oh, SKZ's korean music videos have english subs btw. In previous reaction to Stray Kids (Red Lights) you said you usually react to japanese metal/rock so maybe you would want to check out Stray Kids' japanese tracks? There's TOP, All In (both have MVs) and Slump (the MV is just in the studio) so here you can watch their The First Take performance, on a channel where japanese artists perform their song in just one take without cuts. TOP and Slump are actually an opening and ending to the anime "Tower of God" and both were fully recorded in 3 languages: japanese, korean and english :) maybe you'll like Slump more cause it has more rock in it.
Sorikkun :In Korean, [Sori] is a sound.[kkun] means a person who has a talent for singing So [Sorikkun] is a Korean word for someone who is talented in singing.Although the title of Korea and the English title are different, it seems to be true that their songs are like [Thunderous].
I'm pretty sure at the chorus they are saying thunderous in Korean 😂 Great reaction and I love seeing someone just be honest and general like a song! Awesome 🤘
Stray kids make their own songs from lyrics, producing, composing, amd their song have so many different colors. God's Menu & Back Door are a good start to see their hit songs, they also have MV for their other B-side tracks from thid album like Red Light, The View, Cheese, Sorry I Love You, Surfin', Mixtape: Oh, *all of these* have different style!!!
the funny thing is that they don't follow a specific sound. they like the experiment and that's why most of the haters say they are too NOISY. you should definitely check out their other songs too. like slump, gods menu, back door, neverending story, easy, miroh, victory song. also, they performed at the MAMA's with victory song, you should really check that out! looking forward to your reactions to them!
I came from metal. Stray kids got my attention and now im a huge huge fan. They're so good, their music are so well done in so many levels. I also recommend to you Dreamcatcher (song: Scream), believe me you should listen to them.
Some songs you might like. 19, M.I.A, TMT, Hellevator, YaYaYa, Awaken, Mirror, Voices, Slump Japanese version. My Side, I Am You, My Pace, You Can Stay= dedicated to the fans (Stay) Streetlight-Changbin Little Star-Hyunjin I hate to admit it - Bang Chan Piece - Changbin +Seungmin Maknae on Top - I.N+Changbin+Bang Chan That’s heaps but there is So much more. Loved your reaction again. 🥰👏 💙🦋💙
At 2:24 they were saying sorikkun which means a singer ,usually traditional Korean singers the title of the song in Korean. Also there are subtitles in English if already didn't know 😊
I just finished viewing your reaction to "Red Lights" and found this video...I am glad you are checking other songs from Stray Kids...I am also new to them so is nice to see others reacting well to them too
Just a note for their lyrics, they use a lot of metaphors and doubles.. you can't really always take what you read at first glance.. that's what makes them really interesting :D In the previous comment I forgot to mention that they do also have Japanese albums (well their second one is coming out soon) but Slump that I mentioned has Korean, English and Japanese versions.. then I also really like TOP and All In (TOP also has Korean and Japanese versions, but the Japanese one is really good) and yeah, further... I still stand by the songs I commented, but I definitely think that Side Effects is a good one.. and I honestly just want to say the entirety of their GO: LIVE, IN: LIFE and NOEASY albums... As someone who was listening to rock and metal before Stray Kids I was really confused about liking them, I guess??? But there isn't a song from them that I've disliked thus far (even the softer or more poppy ones - my brain basically stopped processing when I realised I liked Get Cool, so xD).... which is a really new concept for me... so if you're planning to keep listening to them I really hope you enjoy the journey (cause honestly that's what their music is - I mean there's even a whole storyline,,, which I also don't understand fully yet, but I guess nobody does.. so damn intricate) I'll stop ranting now.. Oh, but definitely .. District 9 (their debut song) also a goody 100%..
thank you for enjoying their musics! it always nice to know more people discover them and enjoy it together with us. like your video man. have a good day!
red lights is more of an anomaly for stray kids so you might not like the rest of their music, BUT there are some other kpop groups that do some rock-leaning stuff, tomorrow x together has some pop-rock stuff with their songs "0x1=lovesong" and "loser=lover", and woodz (solo artist) has a weird mix (he does like a different genre every song) but "feel like" is country rock with a similar guitar line to red lights. a.c.e's song "undercover" is a more classic kpop sound, with rock-leaning percussion and electric guitar mixed in.
also you're definitely right that stray kids have an american hip hop sound with some sort of other flavor (know idea how to describe what that other flavor is tho but i can always recognize stray kids song cause they have that sound)
I'm proud of being Stays ❤❤ Stray kids means super talented boy in any kind of musics ... Please React more to Stray kids - God's menu - double knot - Hellevator- Levantor- Easy - Any - All in - Get cool - Voices - Surfin - never say good bye - sorry I love you - Victory song - District 9 - Back door - ... All of their song is amazing ...
if you liked this you should check out more of their music. They are "harder" than most KPop groups and really good. God's Menu and Wolfgang are my favorites, which is hard to say amongst all their songs. Red Light has, of course, topped the list. haha
Loved the reaction, I like and appreciate your honesty! Your impression is correct, they really are a boy group from Korea. They are labeled as k-pop, but as you have seen, they expand that concept and do add their own flavor to their sound. The songs are really rap and EDM influenced. If you want to check out more from them, try God's Menu. But I see this is not exactly the kind of music you cover here, so yeah, it's just a suggestion. ;) But I would definitely recommend the song Poison from Pink Fantasy, a girl group also from Korea. I think you'd find it interesting. It's heavier, darker and has a cool guitar solo at the end. It reminds me of J-rock. No need to react if you don't want to, but maybe you'd like it. (: Anyway, sorry for the long comment haha. Keep up the great content!
I saw you also have a brutal music reaction playlist. I love Stray Kids I do. My album count is too high *ugh* If you want hardest metalest kpop song I've heard in a good long while you want Poison by PinkFantasy. If you're trying to expand your palette might I also recommend Tengger Calvary, Mongolian metal from NY. Or as I like to call it music to raid the steppes to.
Could you please react to dududu (it’s a mashup with their song gods menu) performance on kingdom. And the newest updated Wolfgang performance where hyunjin is in. He wasn’t about to be in the kingdom performances but dududu is worth watching for the beat at least I think you would like it🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 thank you so much!!!
I love your second reaction for Skz, God's Menu has a hard core music, you would like it! But if you don't mind, please check to Isyana Sarasvati-Lexicon, this is a classic rock music 🤘
So you do react to Kpop groups too. How about EDM, Hip-hop, and radio friend pop music stuffs too that are ranked in the billboard charts? BTS is the most top ranked groups in the billboard charts so you have to react to them and their army would bring you to a 10,000 subscribers.

So, yeah, a lot of songs in the industry are around this length because the humans performing them need to not die when performing live.
Their music is very diverse, try listening to "Slump" "Easy" "God's Menu" and "Side Effects" :)

Discovering Stray Kids as first band of Kpop will be a let down when you realize not all groups are like this
Stray Kids are cheeky and have multiple levels to their lyrics - I think most of their songs are about that long - they dance and sing live 💟
The more Stray Kids songs you hear, the more genres you find out

Highly recommend god's menu by Stray Kids
More like SKZ always has this hard hitting choreo and they r mostly singing live while perform
Korean Media even titled them as "Kpop 4th Generation Leader".
This group is indeed scary in a good way. They are a completed package.
Sorikkun : not sonic boom 💥 but similar :) with the way they sing 🎵 to me
