  • There's been a lot of discussion about how Bill 6 will impact family farms. But Southern Alberta farm employers are concerned The Enhanced Protection for Farm and Ranch Workers Act may impact the people it's supposed to help.
Rick Paskal - Paskal Cattle Company, and Ryan Kasko - Kasko Cattle, are among those urging the government to meet with producer groups before rushing ahead with the new legislation.

Well stated Rick, your company has always been a great one for employee/employer relationships. As are many on feedlot alley. Kelvin, Josh & I knew we were well taken care of working with you. That's why your workers don't leave. The government has not looked at all possibilities.

This man underscores the most important part of capitalism and the free market (what we really don't have today): COMPETITION. Competition in labor forces businesses (farms and otherwise) to provide attractive wages/benefits to potential employees, otherwise they will not be able to attract workers. Competition is the greatest mechanism in an economy because it lowers the price of goods/services while also providing workers with the best incentives. Nutley and her NDP socialists believe that the government must do everything for everyone (especially their union friends), however they willfully ignore or simply don't know that the market can address every situation and the people are better off with it. Government regulation/force and central planning usually makes an issue much worse.
