Y’all saying Rachel was toxic but so was Chloe. They both were broken badly and they both were doing drugs and skipping school before they even met each other.
She was not just "toxic". She's both positive & negative, like a battery. She did care alot of about alot of people, but she was torn inside. Like a fire, her relationship with Chloe is passionate, but short lived. She's not purposefully manipulative like a villian And no you do not call immature and lost teenagers trying to fit in and find what they want toxic
@@Rachel.DawnAmber I love your description of her but I think she did put chloe in a lot of dangerous stuff for her own sake and didn't think about her safety too
it’s kinda sad when u realise she didn’t really love Chloe, she just liked her. Since she gets w Frank and says she loved him and also Mr Jefferson (kinda). She definitely liked Chloe and Loved her but not in the way Chloe loved Rachel
I think she loved Chloe but she's waaay too selfish and impatient. The reason I think she loved Chloe is because of all the relationships she had, Chloe is the only one she didn't really get anything in return. She sacrificed a lot for Chloe even though Chloe wasn't capable of repaying them. Compare this to her relationship with Frank and Nathan, and even Jefferson. Frank is capable of funding her escape of arcadia, gives her free drugs to use, but the slightest sign of Frank going crazy and she quickly ditched him. She also did a fling with Nathan but never really stayed with him unless she has to. Jefferson is a good gateway for Rachel's future as a model but she rarely actually stays with him. Chloe, despite all of Chloe's outburst, she never really ditched her, in Before the storm she went nuts when Damon hurts Chloe. I think in the end, Rachel was too selfish and impatient, she got tired of waiting for Chloe and decided to find her own quick way out by trying to manipulate multiple people that can fund her escape (Frank, Nathan, Jefferson), which in the end heavily backfired on her. Also let's not forget that she did helped Max and Chloe a lot, she guided them throughout the game until they found her corpse. I think Rachel was way too quick for her own good, she wants everything as quickly as she can, she never took her time, she never waited. In the end, it backfired on her. At least in the alternate timeline in the comics, she and Chloe ran away together and lived in L.A. A happy ending for her and Chloe there.
These 2 comments make no sense - at first I didn’t really like Rachel but now i kinda like her actually from watching Life is Strange Before the Storm. Rachel was manipulative, but she was still quite nice enough. She was impatient too.?

Rachel and Chloe are my problematic favs. I love them to death but I’m glad the fandom is starting to take off the rose tinted ‘UwU lesbian’ goggles and seeing that they’re both toxic and kinda awful. That’s why I liked them. They were complex. The fact the fandom ever woobified them because omggay is a disservice to the characters and, as a lesbian myself, kinda annoying.

She was very toxic, the kind of give you lots of attention when she's fixated with you and then ghost you when she loses interest, but she was too young and what happened wasn't fair.
I finished LiS for the first time a few weeks ago, I'm still in shock and I was doubting if I should play Before The Storm but your edit made want to play it
Y'all focus on toxicity too much instead of looking at the whole context and their age. Judt like the voice actress of Rachel Amber, Kylie Brown said on the topic: "They're just confused teenagers.. trying to fit in and make others happy..." It's not even a question of toxicity or not.
Yeah it kidna make no sense to use the word toxic when it didnt even existed for us at their age. Ofc she has issues, might be mental issues cause of her family or just herself or her environnement A lot of us did so much craps in our youth too, some, worse than just drugs or cheating 15yo isnt surprising to me to get manipulated or grooming, this is really young, and ofc the characters seems older for the purpose of the game Because at 15yo, i wouldnt be as mature as them, they have their flaws for the game purpose ofc But being "manipulated" by 2 adults like Frank & Jefferson, even if Frank loved her (he seems to do), he has for sure some issues, at 31 to love a 18y girl Toxic isnt really the word i would use yeah, for me it would be when you are mature enough to undesrtand fully what you do, even if you are doing the bad things These poor kids (yeah because 15yo is a kid doesnt mater what ppl think), these poor kids doesnt know what thye doing, they have terrible life, specially Chloe, i coudlnt even imagine what i would too if my dad died that young, my family had financial issue, my mom was with someone as rude as David in BtS, trying to fit in a school full of hypocrits and liars Yeah..
@@annapandalee4915 sure it's not an excuse, but that's a valid reason. The worst of her mistakes are the results of being exploited and manipulated by men who's almost twice her age

Drugs, insatiable needs, impulsive nature, Lying, Manipulating. And we know Rachel's mother got past it. And Rachel might have too, but she was bad for Chloe... and Chloe was bad for her. They may have been close but if Rachel and Chloe hadnt met Chloe may have stayed at Blackwell.... Rachel may have never had a reason to hate her dad and family outside of suspicions. But she may have been able to mend those things and be oblivious to harm. Maybe they both would have gotten their acts together without one another. But thats a while lot of what ifs... Regardless Rachel was not a good person. And as it stands based on the first game regardless of if Rachel and Chloe meet she was destined to fall victim and die from Jefferson and Nathan.
Rachel is definitely a complicated character for sure. It’s why she’s my favourite character, but not for the reasons you think. She has definitely done some shady shit. This is why I kind of wanna game for Rachel, and I want all the answers about her solved. It’ll either redeem her character or further support our claims that maybe she wasn’t the greatest individual for Chloe.
@@Arcadia.Hearts she lost me when she drugged Victoria (I know it may not happen, depends on previous choices). Victoria is not the nicest girl but they were just having petty arguments over a school play, and going as far as drugging her...
This is why I never may Chloe and Rachel be in a romantic relationship. I only made it friendship because in the first game it says that she met someone a.k.a. Frank and I’m hard-core price field trip or so.
rachel was NOT toxic she was an amazing friend and wanted to be free..and she is free in heaven she died for a reason so they didnt leave and chloe and max got a change to be together forever, chloe and max are soulmates "3 months later i changed my mind, Rachael is really toxic"
rachel died bcs nathan overdosed her, she did less max and chloe to the truth bcs chloe deserved closure and rachel knew that bcs chloe never got closure when her dad died, it doesn’t excuse rachel for being destructive to everyone around her and the narcissistic behavior.
