Can someone pls explain Steve Keen's assertion that there is no such thing as commodity money? Afaik he says that money is really just credit and debt (thus gold and Bitcoin are not really money)
As always Jeff was awesome...the other fella? Nah!! Felt sorry for Jeff today!! The interviewer should of done way more homework before having Booth on his pod. Just my opinion of course!!
He says you are immune from the old system if you measure in bitcoin, but this is only true until you have to exchange it for dollars to buy something. Then you're back to measuring in dollars. Until you can pay for things in Bitcoin we're stuck with having to think in both systems. Am I wrong about this?
Depending on what country or continent you live in most people in the West will use Bitcoin as a savings technology while others will use it as a means of exchange. I personally use it as a good store of value because it’s better than property, gold or Fiat currency. It really depends on the individual 👍
We’re also very early. As adoption grows and the store of value narrative takes foothold, we’ll see vendors 1) demanding to be paid in bitcoin, or 2) charging more if the buyer wants to pay in fiat.
So in short, the medium of exchange transition will come after most people understand BTC as a store of value. Some people are already there depending on their understanding of BTC, jurisdiction, and lack of access to a stable/reliable currency.
