      @ Study American history. Blacks such as this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percy_Lavon_Julian who had much higher abilities and skills were barred from admittance to top schools.

      @David f It was relatively common for white universities in America to deny admission to high achieving black Americans on the basis of RACE/skin color. What part of this don't you understand?
      Most Black Americans who wanted to get a college education had little to no options (prior to the creation of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). HBCUs in America were created solely for the purpose of allowing black Americans to receive a college education. This is American history 101.

    Well done ladies. I have had the pleasure of going to an PWI and graduating from a HBCU. My experience with a PWI was University of Maryland College Park. The pros and cons for the PWI were very similar but I didn't reach out the the AA support groups and eventually left. My HBCU experience led me to Morgan State University. ALL HU pros and cons are the exact same thing. Morgan State University class of 2010 for my BS and 2018 for my Masters. No matter where you go that paper is the most important thing in life. They can't take your education away from you.

    This is so ironic because my number one choice was USC, but I didn’t get in and ended up at Hampton, the REAL HU. I can honestly say God lead me in the perfect direction for me. This video was great, I really enjoyed it considering I had previously thought of the pros and cons of that PWI, and I’m experiencing the ones at that HBCU.

    I see this is from a couple of years ago, but I think it's still relevant and informative. Our 16 year old daughter is strongly considering an HBCU. We live in CA, so she's going to have to leave the state 😩, but if she goes, I know she'll be fine and have a great experience. Hugs to you my young sisters! Great job!

      p.d d.p the black population here is big enough where we have many student orgs! Like black reign step team it's the best dance group on campus. If your Black of Caribbean event the communtiy here is great! We got flag day party in Sky barn, we also did a die in march for BLM movement and also the black Greek orgs do many events and we also have black graduation. It's small but it's large enough where you can create your own communtiy. Although it gets cliquey. If you can provide your email I can answer any questions!! I attended Hampton when it was Hampton Institute and Howard was Howard University then Hampton Institute became Hampton University in the 1990s while Howard was a University from 1870 to present; therefore the REAL HU IS HOWARD UNIVERSITY so Pirates, stop the silliness!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Some schools I've been considering include Berkeley, Chapel Hill, NC State, NC Central, and none other than Howard University. This debate got me to thinking about it again, and, I'm still kinda conflicted lol. I think I may end up going to Howard because I have really good academics, and I could probably get a full-ride or close to it there. But, on the other hand, I think it would also be important for me to go to an institution with a more balanced composition of students as to better prepare myself for the real world.

      emerald, the creator Berkeley is far more diverse than any hbcu

    • @289dancer
      @289dancer 5 років тому +2

      emerald, the creator there is nothing balanced about institutionalized racism. Attending an HBCU gives you the one time in life to experience being a majority and being able to focus on your endeavors without skin tone or phenotype being a constant factor in how people treat you. HBCUs prepare you for the real world by giving you unique tools and confidence and celebrating your afro roots so when you work you recognize microaggressions and conduct yourself accordingly. There is nothing unreal about HBCU and you can study abroad for a semester at most of them to get experience with different races. Also, there are HBCUs that are not 100% black.

    I go to neither. My school is pretty diverse. The white population does out number the black population but I dont feel uncomfortable because I'm surrounded by many other races. Hawaii is full of minorities and has the least amount of white people in the US. I honestly see more European students(people from Norway) at my school than anything when it comes to skin color.

    I'm thinking about going FAMU (Florida agricultural and mechanical univeristy🐍). I'm from Pensacola, Florida and Ik that I want to go to an HBCU and I don't want to be too far from home but definetly don't want to be in my home city. We have PSC (Pensacola State college) and UWF (University of West Florida) and some other minor colleges but those are PWIs and were automatically crossed out my list of choices since they're not Hbcus and are in my home city.

    I LOVE your videos but I think you can work on your facial expressions. They tend to be very blank and like no excitement or anything. Studies have shown that it’s harder for people to relate or like someone who in front of the camera doesn’t have wide range of facial expressions to emote. I think if you work on that you’ll get way more subscribers bc you deserve so many. I really hope this isn’t coming off as hate bc I do not want it to be hate, just some advice bc I think you’re an amazing UA-camr.
