Yeah. But she was wrong about the reason why Russians in drag don't advertise their russian-ness.
It's the same reason why other cultures don't advertise their cultures. When you are from this culture you don't see it as strange or fascinating so you don't fetishize it. Fetishizing your own culture is a rarity, it's usually foreigners who do it. Imagine an American drag queen who came to UK drag race constantly being covered in American flag print and signing "Sweet Home Alabama" while shouting something about liberty and hot dogs.
It's not that russian pop culture is strange, there's actually nothing weird about it, it's just less US influenced. Maybe Katya is just not familiar with it and saw snippets of it out of context. It's just that fetishizing your own culture feels cringey and, weirdly, unnatural.
