If you can get uncoated layers of this stuff, you could laminate it with High Density polyethylene and it definitely would work against 9mm. 1000d Nylon is heavy so you would only need a few layers of it. This is what Tech is planning to do eventually on his channel so it would be pretty cool to see you do your own HDPE+Ballistic Nylon tests as a kind of review of Tech's findings to confirm whether or not this type of composite material will do what he thinks it'll do.
Use 14 layers of 1680d ballistic nylon to see what it may stop And maybe 14 layers of ballistic nylon with 8 layers of carbon fiber would be interesting as well
if you use epoxy reisin between each layer (like they do with fiberglass panels) and make a rigid panel yeah it will stop handgun rounds no problem. But on their own, nope.
I know its crazy how far we have come with advancement in fabric strength. Kevlar is stronger than steel and although I used nylon in this video if you have enough of it you can stop a lot of stuff!
@@Armor-Innovations i was disapointed too by it's weak performance, i didn't expected magnums to be possible, but i tought 9x19 FMJ to be in the realm of possibilities with that much layers.
Remember, cordura nylon it's not the same as ballistic nylon, although both are similar, ballistic nylon is more tension resistant, cordura is more abrasive resistant
There is a tensile strengh difference, but the difference, as far as I remember isn t particularly big, especially when we compare thoose result with results of either balistic test done on actual nylon protections (like mike B s test against british mk6) or the theorical v50 against fragments for some nylon protections and the rating of the soft nylon parts of the old police barrier vest
@@gamecubekingdevon3 the police barrier vest is made of 10 layers or 18?, because i read at two sites that was made of 10, but a video of forgotten weapons said it was made of 18 layers

How the hell does fabric stop a bullet? I understand it’s multiple layers but still it’s just fabric not metal.

so the 32 layers worked against 45 acp but failed against 9x19?
Yes thats correct. I though for sure it would do better. I folded is so there was 44 layers and it still went through.
