I'm Brazilian and I remember when those dolls were launched(then seized),I was around 15 years old. Fun fact: Adriane Galisteu is F1 pilot Ayrton Senna's ex-girlfriend.
What a fascinating presentation, Allison! Thank you for sharing this. ❤️ I think these were seized, mainly for 2 reasons. 1. The picture you showed on the back of the box, that I think shows the actual mechanism of the Bratz foot attachment, with the Bratz knobbed peg. They should’ve waited till they had their own mechanism to be shown on the box, rather than use the reference stand in photo. 2. The foot peg attachment mechanism is too similar to the Bratz foot peg mechanism. That mechanism may be under current patent protection by MGA Entertainment. Additionally, though they’re different sizes with different molds (I’ve not seen the doll’s body nude to compare… but), it could be that body is an upscale of the Bratz body. I was hoping that you’d show the doll’s nude body in direct comparison to the Bratz nude body, so there could be a direct comparison of the sculpts. Having made my own dolls, I know how stringent the patent laws are regarding established patents. That’s why for my own doll, I sculpted my @glamourozdolls by hand, without referencing other maker’s doll sculpts as I was doing so. I referenced my own original 16” doll sculpt that I did in 2001, which I released in 2003, as Elizabet Bizelle (and sister Kotalin).
@@MunecasPoupeesDolls being a few years now. I have learned about so many great artists from you.! I am in Ireland,so started collecting vintage Crolly dolls. They have resemblance with vintage Nancy Famosa just more serious :))) As well, because of you I stopped being ashamed of my hobby. Thank you 😊
Absolutely fascinating. I lived in Brazil around that time and I don’t remember seeing or hearing anything about these at all, but maybe that’s because I wasn’t really collecting dolls at that time. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing these Driks dolls. I think they are beautiful and more friendly dolls. I do learn a lot from you of different types of dolls. Thanks Allison. Have fun and keep the sparkles on. Lovies Yetta💕
Yeah the molds are definitely unique but they are "inspired" enough (like the MyScene were) for the government to take legal action 😱 it's interesting to me I think how so many dolls really inspire each other but then a certain few are just too close to be considered unique enough to sell.
Awesome video. There’s a brilliant toy store in São Paulo which is an appointment only store. They sell a lot of vintage pieces, I actually saw these dolls in that store and found them fascinating. I didn’t buy any however but they looked cool
@@MunecasPoupeesDolls you absolutely should. I used to live in Rio (I’m in New Zealand now) and I would always find amazing treasures especially the beautiful Estrela Barbie and Ken dolls
What a fascinating video! I love when you introduce us to doll history/new dolls that we never knew existed! I actually think the Driks dolls are much cuter than the Bratz dolls. I've never liked the sculpts, makeup or fashions of Bratz dolls. The Driks look friendly, whereas Bratz dolls look like they would call you names!

This is so neat! Wow! I literally just got my Bratz collection and a few furniture pieces out of the attic. Wow! Great video!✨💜✨💜✨
I'm glad you enjoyed it and enjoy your Bratz dolls 😍

Aren't they fun? I wonder how much, if any, advertising they were able to do after the seizure of the dolls. I would guess none.

Yes I love these never seen them great video thanks.
Thank you so much for watching 💜
I wouldn't call this dolls knock off, more like Inspired because they have their own Facemold and body mold

Their faces are like MyScene and Bratz combined.
Yes!!? I think so too 😍
I just love ur channel! Please never stop doing videos!!!
Thank you so much 💜💜💜

Thank you so much and also 😂😂😂😂
The faces are so pretty, and I love the taller size! Cool ❤
Love my Bratz girls 💖... interesting!
Isn't it? I thought it was a fun story 😆
How did you end up getting this in the states? Did you bought them from Brazil?
These are for sale if you'd like to buy them, you can message me on Instagram 💜
Very interesting story!
So their shoes are literally identical to early Bratz shoes visually, just recoloured
Yes! I think the similarities were so much and that's how the govt legally seized them

Thank you so much for the kind words 💜💜
I think they as friendly as the dolls ment to be they should collaborate with each others
Was bratz vs my scene dolls.
Yes and Mattel had to pay Bratz out 😆
Ok, but why were they seized ?
It was determined to be a copyright infringement to Bratz
I think the fake dolls are prettier.
