Thank you for all the efforts you put into your tutorials! I learned alot from this video, just by watching. Now I'll have to get those scales under my fingers and learn to apply them licks.
There are more, lol. But I tried to not make it too exotic. You don't need to know all of them. Most are only different in one tone to the mixo scale. If you memorize that tone and the mood it creates, you can use it to your taste.
I just use the full soul scale and its Major and Minor iterations. Its an old scale from the 1920-1930 Jazz error that has been lost. Charlie Christian and Benny Goodman used it as well as big bands. I really dont see any one teaching it or playing it. Another on that can be used is D7 arpeggio with the added 6th instead of Blues scale . When you are inside the Box you do as others do in the Box. When you are outside the Box enlightenment comes and the music flows.

I especially enjoyed the melodic minor references and harm min 5 (I’ve also heard that called the Jewish scale - I guess due to the exotic tonality)… but, sometimes it’s just the right mood to throw in a solo👍😄. These are 10 great resources! Your wonderful presentation makes it even better! 👏👏
I think so. But a lesson on major scale depends on the succes of these kind of videos. The minor scales didn't go well tbh. And it was a lot of work, took me twice as long as a chord melody lesson.

I just memorize the differencies to the mixo scale, which is the basic dominat scale (you gotta know that scale!) . Like, if a scale has a b13 I just memorize that. I know all my mixo intervalls and then just memorize, that there's a b1 in the scale etc.
The chromatic scale and a good ear can work too. A G7 comes from the chromatic scale. The G7#9 comes from the chromatic scale. The dorian b2 comes from the chromatic scale. etc.
What? I know you mean no evil, but that's seriously the worst mansplaining I've heard in a while ☺. The chromatic scale isn't really a scale, it's just all the 12 tones available in western music. A scale is an excerpt of that, usually between 5 and 8 tones. With your premise everything kinda is derived from the chromatic "scale". And why specifically G7#9 and susb9?

There was no specificity for the two chords (G7#9 and susb9). I think of the chromatic scale as another scale like the whole tone, or diminished scale, where there isn't a clear tonal centre. I studied with a student of John Cage's, so I guess my thoughts on music are a little unconventional.
You're a good guitar teacher, Sandra---- but my ears cringe at the sound of that horrible Band In A Box backing track. The bass sounds muddy and terrible, and I can't believe you continue to use this. It ruins the harmony of what you are playing. The bass is playing wrong or inappropriate notes, and rhythms that do not match. There are far better backing tracks available and I sure wish you would change. Your videos would sound so much better!!
