In this Vlog, I talk about one of the easiest and cheapest (because its free) mods a 5Th Gen Camaro owner can do to gain some HP and better sound from their car
This mod in conjuction with a CAI, will net you 10-15hp total depending on car and CAI system. Of course with any modification done to an engine, in order to get proper gains, you will need a tune or you will not gain anything. To do this mod. All you have to do is..... 1. Jack up the left front end. 2. Remove rim/tire 3. Remove screws holding shield in wheel well, 4. Unscrew and remove wiper fluid tank and hardware. 5. Reinstall all parts removed. 6. Enjoy
I took it 1 step further. Since I have the base model I removed one of the covers that goes where the fog lights usually go and cut a nice circular hole into it and reinstalled it. now I have even more cold air flowing around my intake.
MeAndMineTv does ur car pass the smock check test with that air intake ?? did I come stocked already? I'm asking cause I had a car before with an intake air filter and they never wanted to pass it cause they sad that was modified and and it needed to have the original part so hopefully u can answer my question there cause Im trying to get a Camaro RS and maybe thinking of adding some more horsepower and the intake could be an option
These guys that are saying you are missing 2 cyl. do not understand that we did not want an expensive gas hog of a v8 but got a great car in a v6 and yet still can have power, and gas mileage. Then we can play around and still improve the hp with a few mods that are just fun to do.
@@solodolo1896 I just drove it on cruise control 65mph. Reset before I left. That's what it told me in the DIC. Didn't even barely come of the full mark after 110 miles.
Might sound stupid af but it's actually true... I don't know the hp but on the "get up and go " it's more responsive .... I personally did this!!!! Good vid dude
I got news for you , it's not going to do anything for performance without a tune , the cars ecm only allows for so much air , so a cold air intake does nothing without a tune , the ecm and mass air flow only allow so much air to compensate for the fuel flow , so with out a tune the extra air is a waste , can actually slow you down lol
Hey DV, I love your video and I just purchased by 2014 Camaro Ls. I live in the Atlanta area and I'm super excited to start building onto it. Love your vids man. Keep it up.
i don't really see how the stem of the wiper fluid can obstruct enough air to hurt performance. It's really not blocking anything, if there's any issues with air its that you don't have a closed box which is giving you heat soak and probably not even that much since the CAI is so far away from the engine and for a simple mod like CAI you don't need a tune your cpu will auto adjust
If you didn't get a tune after your cold air intake or after you move the windshield wiper fluid than you did nothing. Also where is your dino test that proves it gave you more hp?
Did you get a tune? If not, are you going to get one once your exhaust is installed? Remember anything done to your engine won't make any difference or that much of one unless you get it tuned to accommodate the new mod!!! How's the sound tho? I know mine went a little deeper once it was removed.
I love your videos man. This mod is extremely easy. You can remove the tire but it is not necessary. Turn the wheel all the way to the left. Remove the plastic insert. 5 screw/4 clips Remove the reservoir 3 1/2" bolts Make sure to unplug the pump and the hose put everything back on and youre done.
I took 5 90degree 4ich pvc elbows and a 4to6inch adapter to make a ram air intake it was cheeper then buying one and works really good I ran the pipe to the stock are box and put a high flow are filter but I’m about to run it in to a kan high flow are intake and replace the stock are box to give it more performance
Want colder air? Only drive your car in the winter. There that's even easier. NOW you want more power? Buy an SS there a bit more time consuming and takes a lil bit more leg work. So drive the SS in the warm months. Then the V6 in the cold months. And this is comming from the owner of a 5th Gen 6 cylinder 6 speed manual Camaro.
I think taking the plastic cover off the engine is worth at least 5hp! It hold in heat right over the intake manifold warming up all the cold air going in. Still I have decided on getting a V8 once my v6 is paid off. Just easier.
I've had mine for over a year and haven't found a single con yet. It improves the sound and mildly increases power without a tune. Other than having to check the tightness of the screws that secure it, nothing bad to report.
I didn't want to remove my reservoir for the window washer fluid because it is a daily driver, what I did though was drill a 3 inch circumference hole into that wheel well just below the air filter so it sucks in air through there, same concept👍🏼
I have a 2012 V6 Camaro that is stock 323hp I’m already getting cold intake too boost it too bout 333-335 i wanted too know if I’m tryna go higher then that what parts would I need too boost it all way up
Hey I just thought about the same thing a couple of days ago. I will have had my Gen 5 for 2 year's in February and I've never had to add any windshield wiper fluid.
You people really want the cheapest performance mod out there ? It's called a wet nitrous system , and a tune . For about $1800 or less , you'll gain 125hp plus
I don't understand why you would buy a v6 , then mod it . Just spend extra on the V8 , you get 100hp or more right there , them slighty mod the V8 . You'll get way more power then you ever will with a v6 , we esp mod for mod . You end up spending the same or more anyway to mod a v6 , just to reach close to a stock V8 power level, it's stupid unless you just want to build a v6 to see how close you can get to a stock V8 lol , still stupid tho if you wanna go fast .
Funny as hell....The first thing I did was the cold air (K&N BlackHawk) but I can't remove that bottle...Daily driver...but I am looking into the SLP supercharger when the warranty is up.
I'll have to locate again. But its pretty simple to do. 1. Jack up car 2. remove left front tire 3. unscrew the screws holding the shield inside the wheel well 4. unscrew and remove wiper fluid tank and hoses 5. reattach everything back and you're good.
Hey DV have you thought about getting a Throttle Controller I have one and really like it. It great to dial it down for people like me who have to drive my car in the snow. And in the summer time it get rid of that pedal delay. Thought it Might help you with the racing. Very Very easy to install. Just unplug the gas pedal and plug it in Just wondering ..............
I have but I've heard to many horror stories about the system not working right after installing and many people selling them only after a few months of installing them.
As if the 3.6 doesn’t already come with 330hp and a ss comes with 370hp but a 6-8k price difference. A lot of people go the little cheaper route to get the car and then do the small cheap upgrades 1 at a time to up the power and get close to a ss. Without paying ss price.
No. When the CAI was installed along with my suspension, my car was tuned then. The HP gains were the total gains for the entirety of the mod. Are they estimates? Of course, but a better CAI along with a proper tune and airflow, will net an increase in HP
@@MeAndMineTv you have to have it tuned with the additional air flow already installed , so the tuner can factor the extra air into the equation , so he can map the fuel density properly
Did it was easy 10 mins even from the top removed the most easily seen screw and went fro. Each one while I bent the resivior back easy delete and opened a lot of room near the intake in going to put thin chicken wire or something down there to keep the air and less dirt maybe 🤔
Cold air intake is modern day snake oil. 😬is the temp in that area really colder? Maybe 5 degrees ? Is that going to make a difference? So you would have massive more power driver in the cold winter? Why haven't car manufacturers put this on stock ? What a scam cold air intake is. It's not even cold air
ZL1 has a CAI as stock from Chevy. My Vortec has way more power when it's cold outside because you are fooling the computer's fuel table to enrich the gas mixture based upon the MAF sensor's input. When it's much hotter outside the influence is less, but it still helps. Bringing in the coolest air possible is the key. Same on my 2SS/RS.

No issue. I know it not legal in CA because of regulations, but I've never had an issue with it passing.
This is one funny video, man! 👍 You didn't get any more hp, but you sure kept me entertained.

Sounds like an easy thing to do, except I use my windshield washer fluid a lot. 😂😂
They do have a relocation kit where you can move it to a different location.
Maybe I'll check into that.
Yeah, I relocated mine to the garage shelf in case I ever need to put it back :)
