The polished wheels do have a clear coat on them... you need to strip the clear coat first for the never dull to have any effect . I stripped my barrels on my c5 rims and used Flitz metal polish to achieve a high polished appearance. Unfortunately I’ll need to maintain them since I didn’t re-clear coat them after I polished them.
Yeah they should be stripped and polished with metal polish. That’s the right way for sure. These wheels were not in very good shape and not worth the work. The road salt from up north pitted them badly.
if that's bare aluminum and not clear coated, you can hit the inside barrel with 600 grit, get all the pitting done, then polish it in one step with luhmin polish from evans.
You need to take the simple green and a hard brush with a pressure washer not a damn metal scraper, all your doing right there is scratching the shit out of those rims.
Matthew Pettit calm down my man. These wheels are already pitted from road salt up north. There wasn’t a single gouge put into the wheel when scraping.
That came out real nice

Thanks for the video, I'll try do the same soon 😉 but the way are you ok? It's been some time since you share car care videos
Thanks for the comment. I am doing great. Making content was a ton of work without much interest. We may pick up again in the future.
Great stuff!
🙏
Have you ever tried brake clean to get off the heavy stuff?
Haven’t tried it. Seems like it would damage what’s left of the clear coat GM puts on the wheels.

Man love the video but the background music not so much! Just some constructive criticism 😎 Keep Moving Forward!
It was intended to be a counterpoint to the frustrating nature of the task.
@@schmediumperformance Actually, the Chopin and the Vivaldi were a pleasant change from the normal crap one hears on YT vids.
Easy👍
After you get it clean and polished use a Dewalt Drill attachment then try putting some Ceramic Spray Wax Coating.
