- Rachmaninoff - Prelude in C Sharp Minor (Op. 3 No. 2) - This haunting and dark masterpiece was one of the first the 19‑year‑old composed as a "Free Artist," after he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in May of 1892.
👉🏼 Fun Fact 👉🏼 although he wrote preludes in all 24 of the major and minor keys, there are many direct quotes saying he regretted composing this one as he felt it seemed to overshadow a much broader (and in his opinion, better) body of work.
👉🏼 What do you think of this compared to his other later pieces? Leave me a comment and let me know.
👋🏻 If you're new, welcome! 👋🏻
👉🏼 I'm an amateur pianist 🎹 and enjoy learning and playing some of the more challenging classical piano pieces by Chopin, Liszt, Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, and piano arrangements for Vivaldi and the other greats.
👉🏼 I also enjoy learning about the composers' history, and the unique stories behind the songs, which I'll sometimes share.
👉🏼 I'll also throw in some ragtime and modern piano at times too.

👉🏼 I plan to release piano videos about twice a month.

Bravo!!!👍
Thank you very much!
Yes I like this in black and white. Really enhances the mood of this piece! It is a favorite and I think you play it better with each rendition.
Thanks! I agree the B&W speaks more to the mood. Glad you enjoyed it!
Sorry don't know Evgeny Kissing to compare. But for an amateur this pianist does a pretty incredible job.
Thank you!
So dark😮wow.
You don't take piano lessons, right? Looks like self taught. Your playing is good but emotionless tbh.
Just look at this interpretation by Evgeny Kissin. it has a darker aura and there is more tension its just scarier and not that boring and monotonous

Evgeny Kissin is a spectacular pianist and arguably one the best performers of Rachmaninoff's work alive today. He's very entertaining, theatrical and his interpretation of this prelude is quite emotional and nuanced. It's super impressive. Can only dream/aspire of playing like him someday. Solid feedback. Appreciate you watching and providing comment.
@@MarcCro-ku8ur He doesn't sound like Evgeny Kissin of all people and you think he hasn't even taken lessons? 🤣 Try to have a little perspective. Have you ever taken lessons? Playing any Rach is all out warfare, like riding a bike on a highway. You thank God when you get through it without being obliterated. That said, that's a good direction to point towards. Kissin is a master with Rachmaninoff, and we could all draw some lessons from him.
I think he played it exceptionally well- lessons or not… why does that really matter? I say bravo!! 🍾👏🏻
