@@davebainbridge902 You are an amazing guitarist but I think you are an excellent keyboardist too. I love the background strings on Iona music. My strings don't sound that good. You and Kerry Livgren are my two favorite all around musicians.
Oh Sally is good. I loved Joanne so much, she has the voice of an angel. But she had other things to do so here comes Sally and Iona can continue. I would go see them in concert any time if they ever come to Canada. But with Covid and everything, are we ever going to see concerts again?
I agree about Lagan Love. I dug out my copy of "Home" to listen to the Corrs version. This performance sounds much more atmospheric and from the short sample beautifully sung. Such musical talent deserves a wider audience. I look forward to getting the DVD.
That would be amazing. I've been listening to and loving the music of Iona and your solo albums (Veil of Gossamer and Celestial Fire), for many years. Simply stellar work, my brother. The real deal. Love it!
Hi Jeff - it will be DVD only but it will be All Region, so it will play in the US. All the main programme is now edited and mixed and we're just finishing off the extras before we can get the whole thing manufactured.
Dave is there a way or tutorial my son and I can use to figure out how to play these songs and Castlerigg on lead guitar? Have listened to you since I was a young boy and my son and I are learning electric guitar together and would love to slowly learn how you are playing these and practice along? Thank you Dave!!
Hi Richard, I agree but we didn't have the budget to do Blu-ray. The dvd is available now, though at www.iona.uk.com/albums/detail/id/36/live-in-the-studio
I could phrase the creative problem another way - given that Iona captures and expresses a deeply spiritual content in the musical sound and composition, what does that content have to say about so many burning crises in the world today? How does the dove sing and what sounds does it play in Palestine, Syria, Rwanda (still), racist nationalism in the US and Europe, the crippling extremes of poverty and inequality across the world? Does the Wild Goose not visit these places and sing and compose to us from there?
Hmmmm....whilst I adore the legacy of Iona music through the years I feel the band has been struggling with creative direction and concept somewhere around the time Joanne became less available - and then Troy Donockley? And although the vocals and lyrics had been an integral part of the Iona sound, I've always strained my ear to screen that out and get to the instrumental composition that Dave is so frickin awesome at delivering. I've been waiting for another 'Veil of Gossamer' solo album that never arrived - and after the same compositional formula was used in Open Sky, that was the beginning of the end into ambient drift for me. Sally's voice is definitely strong, unique and intriguing - especially given that she is evoking memories of Joanne whose voice was like a soaring eagle to me. But it is more of the same. Dave plays far too little piano work - and his exploration of different string instruments needs compositional development beyond his all too familiar pure guitar tones. Obviously great production - but a really deep hesitation....I don't want to hear the past - where's the future for the Iona sound?
Dave Bainbridge is my very favorite guitarist. He plays amazing music.
Sally is the daughter of Gentle giant multi-instrumentalist Kerry Minnear.
I just stumbled onto this! It reeks of talent, innovation and musicianship. Let us know when you come to Canada!
Great music. I will always be a fan of Iona. Great music and musicianship. I love Open Sky, what a great album.
Thanks Colin!! It's my aim to keep Iona's music alive, as well as continue to write new music

Thanks Tom! BTW are you THE Tom Newman, as in Mike Oldfield etc?
Tubular Bells was the album that made me want to do this!
Beautiful
Thanks Michael!
Fabulous!
Une belle découverte ! Moi qui pensait avoir tout entendu, eh bien non !
Just hope the CD plays on American Current!!!

Was wondering if you had a live recording of "revelation" lying around some where sir?

Just wonderful, thank you so much. Any plans for dates in Scotland?
Not yet, but we'll be looking at duo dates for next year very soon and I hope we can make it up there,
I will keep an eye out for that.
Nice! Cant wait. Blu-ray would be better...

Does the depict the end of Iona? Just wondering...because we love Iona - Sally is wonderful, but you understand, I am sure! ^_^
Brilliant! Coming to Vancouver, Canada? ;-)
Maybe an audio release?
cd/dvd release with new artwork coming very soon from www.musicglue.com/iona
Dave Bainbridge cool, many thanks! :)
Is that a Clannad song at 1:55?
Hi - It's a traditional Irish song that has been recorded by many artists, including Clannad - see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Si%C3%BAil_A_R%C3%BAn
Siul a Run
Some of the music is very much Mike Oldfield alike, which is not a bad thing to me. A good work.
