Thank you for review and comments. I am a beginner. I am gathering my tools. Love quality items that last.
I do too!
My all time favorite is the 8 inch KAI 7000 series.
I have a quilt friend who loves Kai! I don't have any of those!!
❤I have those scissors got them in the 1990's. I have two pair and absolutely love them. Still sharp! Can't go wrong getting these scissors!❤🐝🐝🐝
The best!
I have had those scissors for years and love them.
Amazingly light!!!
I have 4 of the older Gingher scissors and one pair was purchased in the early 80s when I took up quilting. They have never needed sharpening. I have 2 smaller pairs of regular and one pair of pinking shears. Will have to try the featherweight ones. Arthritis in hands now.
Good information as usual. Thanks.
They are so light but they cut great!
Ive had these scissors since the 1990’s and they still cut like when they were new!!! Love them!!!
I really thought these were something new because the copyright is 2020...
Maybe its a remanufacturing. I bought mine in Paducah, ky at Hancocks in Paducah at the AQS show in the’90’s. I just bought a second pair and got them today. They are exactly the same as my ‘90’s pair. 🤷🏼♀️
Hello from Qaqortoq, Greenland. I enjoyed your video about the scissors! Excellent advice. :) :)
Greenland!! Awesome!!! Thank you!
I love those! Like Elizabeth below me, I've had the same pairs since the 1990s. No care, no oiling, still sharp. My favs! I am also a fan of the new bent handle scissors--at least 4 sizes. Keep your hand elevated and off the fabric or batting. got them at JoAnn's with discount coupons. And, yes, I do have all of them!
Thanks for sharing!!
My grandmother’s old Wiss.
We had those on the 60s when my mother made us dresses and I took home economics class. Sharp and heavy.
Thanks for sharing!!!
I love this! All of my scissors are heavy. I can’t wait to try them!
You will be surprised at how light they are!!!
My father bought me left handed fiscars fabric scissors in 1979, he used to do my fabric cutting for me. After watching your video I dropped some hints (I have a Dec birthday), as if by magic they should arrive in bonnie Scotland in time for my birthday.
Thankyou for all your tips and ideas.
Lol!!!! I hope you will enjoy them!!!
Love that you are from Scotland!!!
I have a pair of Gingher dressmaker shears, but I rarely use them. I also have a pair of Razor Edged Fiskars that I think I got at Wal-Mart many years ago. They were really sharp until I cut my last Warm & White batting with them. Now they are dull. Since most of my fabric cutting is done with a rotary cutter, my favorite cutting implements are Gingher 4” curved blade embroidery scissors, Gingher 4 1/2” knife edge thread snips, and Sweet Snips 3.5” scissors from Fat Quarter Shop. I use the curved scissors to cut my pieces apart from leaders and enders at my sewing machine and when I’m hand sewing. I wear the snips on a lanyard when I’m serging, and I keep the Sweet Snips at my ironing board to trim loose threads when I’m pressing. I also bought a pair of fairly-expensive micro serrated blade scissors, but I don’t like the way they cut.
Have old fiskers that i had charpened and work fine. I also have two Karen Buckley scissors that i love.
I guess, I mostly use small scissors also....I do like these featherweight Ginghers though...less stress on the wrist and hand
I know I'm not the only person who has a drawer full of scissors as well as a pair in project bags or all over the house! I also have a drawer of rotary cutters and blades and one of quilting rullers - doesn't everyone?!! I knew I had a pair of these and had to look to find them - and I did! I've had them for many years - not sure when Gingher started making them - and they still cut well but they are sort of stiff. Thank you for reading the part about how to care for them. I'm going to oil them and see if it makes a difference. I've used Gingher for years. For me they are synonomous with sewing, like Singer is. I always wanted a pair of the designer Gingher with the red floral enamel handles. I missed that boat. I might find them on ebay. BUT - I have to say that my large Kai scissors really are the best cutting scissors I have - in my opinion.
I have a quilt friend that loves Kai scissors and she thinks they are outstanding!
I purchased 2 Fiskars with the spring action. They were great until I brought them to be sharpened. I got them back and the spring action no longer worked! 2 pair ruined! My next purchase will be
Gingher 8 Inch Spring Action Dressmaker Shears. I am hoping I get these soon. Mostly I use my rotary cutter, and snips for quilting, but I need a good pair of Shears. I have my grandmother's pinking shears. I was going to send those out to be sharpened but after this last fiasco, never mind.
Oh my!!! Not good!!
I'm adding them to my amazon Xmas list right now!
You will like them!!!
I have both pairs that your shared. Nice. I also like the spring handled ones by a different company. My hands are a little crippled.
Spring loaded scissors are great for those who have difficulty opening the scissors! I can see why you like them if you have physical limitations when using your hands! Thanks for sharing! I hope that will help others who may also have difficulties when using their hands!
I will have to look into that
I like them!
I finally bought some Karen Kay Buckley medium size scissors. They are pretty good. I also have a pair of Gingher style scissor that are marked Benartex. They have a black coating on the metal. They are excellent. I sometimes buy old dressmakers shears at estate sales. It’s hit or miss. Sometimes they are duds.
I don’t have any Karen Buckley scissors.
I have a pair of Guggenheim. They are amazing scissors.
I think mine also have a lifetime warranty
Thanks for sharing!!!
😊
Thanks!
Karen K Buckley serrated scissors
I don’t have any of hers. Some of my quilt friends do and they like them!
I have mine from the 90's left handed then there is all of my mothers, MIL, including long, short, embroidery, left handed, pinking all in drawers. Fiskers for rag quilts. Love the gingher but also a couple that were my moms. I am shameful.
Very nice!
