Aaah been waiting for this one, thanks!
Thanks. I have this dongle, too. I do wish it had a dumbed down high voltage battery display. I have asked OBDELEVEN to make an EV app within the program to simplify data acquisition. We’ll see if they are listening.
At first I modified a few values with the Obdeleven dongle. Mainly units from Mi to Km then I found it is super useful in my egolf to get live HV battery module temperatures.
Doing Yo-yo to avoid coldgating I can clearly see the heat build up in the battery.
Headrest? temperature 6500C , nice and toasty
Thanks for the video, in your livestream you said you were not going to publish it.
In any case, glad you did. Hope the manufacturers see your video and make it have a new screen that shows data like "scanmyt..." "leafspy..."
I have tried vagcom, it shows nothing useful, probably designed just for ICE cars.
Try Carscanner app at first it seemed to be only for ICE cars, but my Kona was there in the list
Moin Chris! Danke für‘s Video. Wollte mir eigentlich OBD Eleven zulegen. Jetzt nicht mehr. 👎🏻 Hoffe auf EV Notify. Da wird mit Sicherheit auch ein Video von Dir kommen. VG
This is great. Didnt know there was the VAG equivalent of Bimmercode/Carly. So using this to understand my car better. Wouldnt need this if they would put most diagnostic values on the screen, but hey, this is even better.
A question: does the car feeds the OBD even if the car is "shutdown"? Another thing that can empty the 12v battery :')
ODB11 is reliable and a great tool at least for VW e-Up and e-Golf.
You are digging deep into the car, or in particular a computer on wheels.
You are accessing a central computer and all those control units / Steuergeräte which is a bigger chunk of data that have to go through the central unit and ODBC dongle. If it takes long you might better be asking VW ...
but remember the firmware update and hours it takes ?
Lot of data on a somehow slow bus. For e-Golf and e-Up the ODB11 is the go for solution if you consider changing special options permanently instead of doing it manual every single fucking time you open the door.
VW safe a lot of options in the e-Golf and e-Up and all the things you have to do to change those is a switch from 0 to 1 or vice versa like regen is active always you open door and start car. But programming such regen permanently on / off was one of those points VW had missed to learn like the SOC% and / or km of range.
Why can't you get the battery temperature of the e-Gold and e-Up ?
That is essential for everyone . Why ? to avoid rapid gating cause battery temperature below 33°C will let you charge again and you will be able to charge 3 times on a single day. That is working at least in winter by natural cooling of the battery or slowing down of the heating up but if you plan a trip it is essential to know about the battery temperature cause once above 40° C you are done with charging for that day.
3 times charging means of cause 80% so in total 240% ... or starting with a full battery you can expect to get 340% battery capacity a day.
Got it, thanks for all your videos! Is there another dongle that shows live results for ID-3?
Evnotify is updated regularly, not much data right now. You can use any obd ii dongle.
Super informative video, instalike! Chris, you can try look up module 19 CAN/Gateway for max net capacity parameter, and there's lot of interesting stuff in module C6 Charger (AC).
Danke Schön! 🙂
Although I'm not sure I like the privacy aspect entirely, I do think the VW should be collecting some of this data. With some machine learning it might be possible to see many different problems before they get too severe, and to learn how to optimise the car better to suit the way you actually use it.
How does this compare with vagcom? I have used my vagcom on VWs from 1995 to 2016.
Chris looks very intresting but, i will wait on the test with EV notify because, i wouldt like only information of SOC and battery Temperature and stuff :-) , not to much ,you sad that it use another OBD can you discribe plz
greetings from netherlands
I've used it in my MK5 Jetta and Touareg , it's your network that is slow causing the app to run slow.If you get great wifi it runs smooth
It uses Bluetooth
I'm using an ELM 327 OBD II adaptor (II Roman numerals Chris) and Carscanner app on my Kona, with Iphone and connect to the adaptors WiFi network .
@@ianjohnson2370 it uses bluetooth but uses the network to work.
EV Notify documentation says need android. Sorry I can’t remember if you connected to ID3 with iPhone. I hope to try on e-Golf today.
Well - the most important lesson to be made here is, that ODB Eleven is useless for ID.x "as is" and there is room for others to really step-up like ScanMyTesla APP - where USEFULL information is shown WHEN needed! Anyway, not you have made a video about it - that's great! Thanks for sharing :)
I’ve been given a VW DataPlug and tried it in my ID3 yesterday, paired with the We Connect Go app. The plug paired and was updated by the app, but then got stuck at “initialising” - I left it for quite a few minutes and repeated it a couple more times but it wouldn’t go any further.
This is a shame as there’s a LOT of useful bits in the app which you just don’t get in We Connect ID, anyone here got any suggestions to get it working?
That VW DataPlug is useless for your car, it's meant for cars that don't have access to We Connect or We Connect ID so it that probably means that the car work with We Connect Go app even if you use that data plug.
@@Gresteh I thought as much, it’s just such a pain given how VERY BAD the We Connect ID app is!
Can anyone make a recommendation for an OBD dongle that I can use to export data from a Mercedes to ABRP? ...Is that even how ABRP works?
Nope, that's not how ABRP works, ABRP has connections to some apps, some of them use an OBD dongle, but i'm not sure if there are compatible apps for mercedes.
Another question: “How can I rapidgate the I.D.3 like you did to your borrowed e-Golf?”
On a serious note: glad you are enjoying your car.
Will you track usable energy capacity of the battery over time?
Thanks. Maybe every year. We'll see.
Ok. I am a bit more obsessed than you: I track it with every charge. I have a spreadsheet set up to calculate usable capacity based on car consumption. I have found that because the e-Golf pack is fairly small, small errors due to rounded data (like SoC estimated from analog gauge) lead to big changes in calculated capacity. I have a lot of data so I can average out the noise.
Hi, I just ordered my ID3 58kw pro 145hp and I was told that the "Eco-comfort and individual" driving scene option was available but not the "sport" option. Is it possible with the ODB to be able to activate it? Thank you
It will be available. Wrong info.
But sport and comfort is the same power. Sport has just a bit stronger curve how the power fades in.
I ordered the id3 58kw 145hp and was told that it may not have sport mode... how can I get it?
???
Nice video Chris, that looks more like a tool for VW Technicians to use, incredible amount of info.
FYI, TB's latest ID3 video, he claims VW listen to him and thats why VW made a particular software change. I think he's related to self righteous @realdonaldtrump
He is god!
wow! 48° thats miles! lol
I tried EV Notify on iOS and am unable to pick OBD2 dongle, so app is useless. Back to OBD2 Eleven for me.
I think only for Android.
Try "Car Scanner" app...
Does not work with it.
@@BatteryLife Damn it...:-/ So you need to get another OBDII adapter, so you can try other apps, if you want to...:) I got the "Kimood" one and has been working fine. Has the On/Off switch which is great not to drain the battery. €17 on Amazon.
ua-cam.com/video/8opwNmBVzHQ/v-deo.html Lockdown eine gute Gelegenheit für einen Test? Was verbraucht er, wenn er steht?
Ich fahr jeden Tag in die Arbeit damit. Samstag Einkaufen. Sas wird nix.
Just a reminder to everybody that this is not just an VW channel - honestly it's not, really not! who is that laughing in the back row?
It is the only car I have !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give me a car and I test it.
VW = Das Auto
So... B-)
On the other hand, there are people like me who watch this channel mainly for the VW info...
