I’ve listened this song so many times, it plays on the radio constantly, but I actually just read all the lyrics as it played and it’s truly a beautiful song by Tracy Chapman, Luke combs did a great cover, but whew…. This song is a masterpiece about hope, disappointment, striving for happiness and dreams achieved. Kinda teared up a bit this time 👀

@TreMolloy yes I agree. Love his voice. Been a huge fan of him ever since "when it rains it pours" ...and Chris Stapleton is amazing . He's country but he's also almost blues rock n sounds like Eric Clapton in some of his songs n style. Love all 3 of them (Luke Combs, Chris, Tracy)
I'm not a huge fan of country music, but I do like some songs. I came across this cover version of Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" on the radio, and thought it sounded good. I never envisioned "Fast Car" as a country song, but it totally works. I think Luke Combs did this song justice.

@@soundcheck2k7 If you wanna get technical about it, the song is folk rock, but Luke Combs is a country artist, and the slide guitar effect provides a country element to it. Hence why I consider this version to be country.

Its crazy I work with women younger then me. I'm 37 and they had no clue this was a cover. I don't listen to country but remember I loved this song growing up I wanted to play the guitar because of it. I'm glad Tracey chapman a queer black woman can finally get her shine on the country charts.

@SuperNoseFace well lots of singers cover songs and don't change the lyrics. You don't have to change them to make it sound like you're talking about yourself. It's just a song and you don't have to read anything into it or take it literally
Love that a new generation can hear the song and emotion that is fast car.... But you just can't touch the original. The curse of an average cover by a good artist tackling a great ICONIC song.
