While not always agreeing on your scores, you are my favourite reviewer on TDT. The way you structure and present your final thoughts are better then anything Ive seen.

Zee is also my favorite as he talks about the mechanics without rushing and he explains what he likes and doesn't like with his final thoughts, and the positive, neutral, or negative points are easily compared to his other reviews.

Aesthetics are subjective, so take this with a grain of salt, but since I noticed a bunch of people say how much they preferred the look of the original Time Square game, I decided to give it a look...and you guys have got to be kidding me!
The original board is literally a grey rectangle of trash-litered pavement with a door at each end, the pieces are skinny people-shaped blocks of wood without any detail on them whatsoever and that you basically have to use lying on their sides to keep them from tipping over, and the cards are just a boring colored rectangle with a bare picture of the character in the center!
I'm not going to argue over "charm," but you honestly can't say the old one is actually more pleasant to look at than the new one, surely.

More pleasant to look at is probably true;I prefer the old look as it's easier to see everything at a glance with the primary colors (also in your hands). The new one looks fancier but that costs a bit of the usability (which is probably still good).

The cloth board would appear to fit the theme perfectly.

    Hey hey Zee,
    Thanks for another honest video..
(I was actually quite sure that you will me more thrilled of the beautiful art, but.. That's OK.. There's no disappointment or anything 😌)
Please be informed that if your score for that game is 7, then maybe you would like to update it at your bgg collection table as well (While it is 6 for the time being).
    Cheers!

Could you play the game by laying down the chunky pieces? Seems like that might be better for stability. And would this be similar to Avignon: A Clash of Popes? Seems like a similar style, but more focused on the cards cycling through.

I remember I picked up the original times square at a unclaimed freight store for like 1$ a fun find to be sure. The game itself we really struggled with. Just as zee said remembering what each character does. I kept feeling like I wanted individual player aids. This review is making me want to pull this off my shelf!

This looks really cool! Are there any tug of war type games like this that you like more?

Hello, quick question, when the draw pile is exhausted for the 2nd time, do we play until the cards that each player still have in their hand have been used up? Or does the draw of the last card spell the end of the game?
Thanks in advance for the answer

Zee had similar issues with Mandalas cloth mat. I actually enjoy them and for this size game they’re aesthetically pleasing😁

Can you move spaces to your opponent's side of duchy? Rules aren't very clear

How do you feel it compares to En Garde (if you've played it)? En Garde is a 7 for me, just wondering if this is different enough if you like (but aren't besotted by) En Garde?

That's a seriously good-looking game. Love the cards and the card backs, and also those thick character pieces.

The original is one of my most played games. I'm thinking of buying the new one because the 138 plays can be seen on the cards of the old copy. Zee, thanks for the (as usual) fine review; I suspect you might have reated the original a 7 as well after further plays - I did not like my first play, it got intriguing after 5ish plays but I still rated it only 7 but it kept going up since, becoming a top10 game for me and I'm sure it's never leaving my collection.

    Is it really good ?
Or you're going to get bored of after a couple of plays
Because, it seems to me that you'll always play whatever you have the most of in your hand
No way you play only one card when you have 3 of them
You'll always want to refresh your hand no matter what you play

The old theme of seedy NYC night clubs was much cooler and different than the same old way-overused generic medieval theme. /yawn Handsome Hal attracted you to him with his charm. Dancing Deb was a wild one. The movie star had her entourage/body guards... it all seemed to "make sense" at least as much as this one. /shrug Also, the cards in this one look too busy to me, or at least they don't match the color of the meeples closely enough. The old version was much easier to tell at a glance what color card moved what meeple.
Anyway, it's a fantastic, quick game.... one of my favorites and probably my most-played game of all time... I just recommend finding the older Times Square version if possible.

Not gonna lie, but your Aesthetics negatives seem to be the opposite of legitimate or ... good... also... your "game arc" makes me confused on why your words happened. ...otherwise, great review. It helped sell me by your description of how it works. Planning on playing my incoming copy tomorrow... *fingers crossed*

Nicer pieces at the cost of them removing all the charm from the original. Champaign Charlie for a token? BAD STUFF. Reprints are on a trend of removing the charm of the originals. Why?

Yikes - I HATE these butt-ugly figures; the original ones were much nicer. I also prefer the rest of the material design of the older version.
In any case it is gratifying to see this fantastic game revisited. To all folks new to the game and interested: Do have a look at the original as well, you may like it better. You may also be able to pick it up cheap somewhere, since this game never got the love it deserves.
