- Eric's 1988 Pontiac Firebird Formula 305 small block Chevy TPI (tune port injection) 5 speed manual, Borg warner 9 bolt. With Magnaflow cat back exhaust and a MAC test pipe (catless). Has been on the car for about 7 years now.

Sounds and looks great. I have a black/grey bone stock 1990 Formula. Exhaust was pretty much silent till I hollowed out the cat. Now it has a nice throaty hum to it.

This might sound kinda cheesy, but I'd like to sincerely thank you guys for posting this. I spent hours listening to every video I could get my hands on, trying to decide on which exhaust to get for my '85, and this is the one that firmly cemented my decision. I'm ordering the Magnaflow catback next week, and I'm super excited. So, thanks again.

What gives your Formula that jet-like whine at certain speeds? I've watched two videos of your car where that whine is very much present in first gear or at a high-speed blow-by. Sounds neat ... but I know that my '86 TPI / A4 doesn't make that noise on acceleration or a flyby. Just curious. In this video, the noise, in particular, is at around 2:07. Just curious ... it's not something I've heard with other third gens.
I believe that is the Borg Warner T5 transmission screaming for help. Lol

How did the exhaust sound when you first installed it? How long did it take to break-in? It sounds great.
Took about a year to break in, but I only put on about 2000 to 3000 miles a year.
TheWiscoGuyz oh okay. I just bought and installed the same catback on my 92 rs 305 and I was a little disappointed at the sound so hopefully it gets better haha. Thanks for the reply!
