Plenty of people have used the 206 front wings for a repair panel for Puma rear arches, they're a perfect fit and much cheaper than the standard Puma repair panels..
I had one in 1.7 Flavour and it was a great drive. Problems I had were the typical rusty arches, leaking fuel tank (rust again) and the trailing arm bushes. I fitted a pair of powerflex items. I did a cambelt change myself and it was relatively difficult for a 4 cylinder due to a lack of space. Nice cars just a shame Ford didn't spend a bit more and build them better.
I have always been a fan of the Puma. The Ford Racing Puma seems to have held its money, especially in blue or yellow. Amazing how a car based on a fiesta, can be so sexy. I would love one!! cheers guys!
I had an '02 1.7 between 2010 and 2012.......rear arches were suffering with tinworm and there was a very annoying oil leak from the engine. New genuine Ford valve cover gasket solved that, £36 at the time from Birchwood Fraud in Eastbourne......tried a £14 aftermarket gasket first and it leaked worse than before !!!! It drove well enough though and reminded me of my old Mk1 Fiestas from years ago. If you can find one now in reasonable nick, grab it 👍👍
Had our 1.7 from new 2001 and engine, clutch, gearbox, suspension, shocks, exhaust and more all original from factory with it dealer serviced every year at good price with free Ford Assist every year that not needed. Original front discs and pads only replaced this summer, rear brake shoes done earlier. Look after it, no need to pamper other than good quality annual service, they can and will last well. Racing Pumas are sold for £14-16,0000 plus so that is the star ⭐️
People tend to miss the point about this car. Yes, it's not as fabulous as, let's say, an Escort XR3i or Fiesta XR2i, it doesn't have crazy bodykit and a turbo Yes, it looks as regular as any other car from the late 90s Yes, it doesn't produce crazy power compared to the likes of the fast Peugeots or B16/20 Civics Yes, it rusts, but what 20yr old car doesn't? But still it handles great, 1.7 produces 125hp which is more than enough to propell yourself to 100km\h in late 8s, and most importantly, maintain that speed because of the great chassis and brakes. It's light, it's quick and cheap to maintain, because of the mark IV Fiesta underpinnings. It really is a gem, and the way it drives is just a depression cure. The 1.7 Yamaha developed engine want's to live and get revved to the moon, it begs you to redline the shit out of it and it will thank you for doing that. Just take care of it, change the oil regualry and wash it to keep the ever corroding arches from degrading into shadow realm, and it will be the purest drivers car that won't destroy your wallet, because it still is a cheap Ford, when Fords used to be quick and fun for everyday people. So if you want to buy it then do it, before it will be too late, because these little runabouts are close to being exctinct.
I bought my first car 2 weeks ago and it's a 1.7 puma (for 1200 euros in France , very close to the 1000 pounds he paid) and I love it. I didn't fully understand the problem mentionned at 1:40 about rear suspention, can someone help me understand please?
Everywhere :) Rear wheel arches and sills are the most obvious, but really you need it up on a ramp to have a look at the entire underneath, as the suspension mounts and entire floorpan are liable to rot!

Rear suspension arm bushes.
How do I auto lock(from inside) Ford Puma 1998?
Push the drivers door handle into the door trim- that’s it now locked from inside. Pull twice to exit.
Where are the worst places to check to rot and rust?
Everywhere :)

So tell me, is it just a Fiesta underneath?
Why I'll never buy Ford -----> Chile.
