What a dumb statement, rooted in nothing.
There is no sinister woke movement.
Corey is a blaq misfit like myself but he is concocted a silly story around it.
I am a blaq man with wide musical tastes also.
So what if people find me strange it is nothing like slavery or rape.

Thank you so much for this interview. I live in Washington and deal with woke people all the time. They approach me with an assumption of my beliefs, political affiliations, and background. When I debunk their preconceived notions about who I am, they do three things...
    1. They try to educate me on what it means to be black. I've received memes, links, to articles, and book recommendations.
    2. Then they feel sorry for me because I've been brainwashed by white supremacy.
    3. They then get angry with me and suddenly it becomes okay to use racial slurs because if I'm not the victim they need to save or pity, then I'm no longer a human being.
I've had people say very offensive things to me and follow up with #blacklivesmatter as if that's their mic drop moment. "I can't be racist because I support BLM."
If I have an opportunity, I will try to have a respectful conversation with these people only to be dismissed, raged at or, even worse, told "my friends are black and they say...".
I've walked away from a lot of friendships because the rampant covert racism I've experienced. It's sad to see so many people proudly announce that they are anti-racist one moment and then call a black woman an Uncle Tom in their next breath.
I know I'm not alone in this experience. I'm glad that we're now talking about it.

Having been a conservative since the Reagan years, I have been treated in a similar fashion by progressive Dems whenever I disagree with their thinking, and I never say anything until they speak their politics. I'm respectful, but I am just not willing to stay silent.

    • @rawfeederlife
      @rawfeederlife 2 роки тому +3

@@thomass5169 I wish I could say the same. I mostly tell people that I prefer to be in the middle and educate myself on all sides of an issue instead of just assuming that the media or strangers on social media have it right. What sucks is that people assume that because of the color of my skin, I believe certain things. I had one of those conversations today and it sucks.

@@rawfeederlife Remember, when you stand up for conservatism or individualism, the audience is not always the person you’re speaking with, but those who happen to be listening while you were speaking. You’ll know when you are ready to speak, and if you’re not then don’t. Though after reading your post I would say you are much further along than you realize. It’s hard enough to be a conservative in today’s world, but in my lifetime and yours, being a conservative black person takes bravery beyond belief. You are much stronger than you know. Remember your audience. People are always listening.

Many times I have sat with my “woke” friends and acquaintances, listened too their view points thoroughly, and then offer an opportunity for them to see my point of view and look at things differently only to be met with, anger/rage, defensiveness, an immediate need to change the topic or straight up running away from the conversation.

As a straight white male, the second I criticise woke progressives I get attacked for "unconscious bias" or just plain accused of racism. Coming from a background of social studies and ethnic identity its somewhat galling to have ignorant teenage firebrands screeching at me about a subject I studied for many years. As a member of the "target demographic" for hate, my voice carries little weight. I really hope you get your message out.
Good luck with your memoire, good luck with your health, and thank you for being a sane voice in a crazy world.

That's a perfect example of their hypocrisy. You should find a way to highlight the error in their line of thinking, without them being able to immediately reject it--probably citing the same hypocritical reasons you're trying to make them aware of.

Its actually kind of insane too have spent so much time studying how ethnic groups are targeted for hate..... only to suddenly find out that these same mechanisms are being used to target "normalcy" and "normal people" as an attempt to destabilise civic society. Not being "part of the progressive agenda" is now a "hate crime" and people are being targeted. This happened during the cultural revolution in China half a century ago and even then it was seen as crazy totalitarianism. Maybe Hoover had a point.

Thank you so much for this eye opener interview. I used to feel the same about my identity until I understood it and everything has changed since.
It was one of the best discussion and I could have listened him for hours to be honest. Stay blessed and continue to open people's eyes with wisdom like Corey Drayton.

I once saw an interesting article that put forward the theory that with the decline of the traditional social hierarchies, many of the old upper middle class moved into hard left politics, because it allowed them to feel they were still at the top of a hierarchy - except this time it was a moral hierarchy.

A liberal is not hard left, its more like they knew they could hide their racism and still hold power. When you raised to be a racist its hared to recovery from that.

At the end he basically restates my takeaway (and I'm guessing most people's takeaway, or so I've thought) of MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech...which was basically treat people as individuals w/o preconceived biases and bigotry.
It's a great message, one of the most important I guess. But it feels so weird that we are here all the decades later even having to rehash this idea. But anyway, thanks for trying to help steer the ship in the right direction!
